Mike Neu is the new the Whitford of MAC football....mediocrity. If we really want to play D1 football, why do we keep him? We are terrible!

A good start would be to jettison Lynch. I've seen way too many "slow starts."

If we do, and I think we do want to stay in the MAC, is that about FB excellence? Can we afford and is it really about being better than competitive/mediocre MAC FB?

Got to agree. If you’re not committed to be the best team in the worst conference in FBS, you might as well ride this horse to the barn and wait on the Power 5 conferences to cut us loose.
The NCAA threw in the towel on the mid majors when they allowed 7 year Covid players, unlimited transfers and the NIL free-for-all.

No matter how far we fall or how fluky it was, he still has that.

But, without a buyout we'll stand pat whether the AD wants to or not. He may not stick around long because it's gonna be real frustrating for him. The MAC will be relegated soon enough once the P5 level schools go completely pro and leave the NCAA. Or the NCAA just collapses, which could be coming given the class action suits brewing. Schools at our level really ought to band together and create our own division, maybe end up as like a 1A, like there used to be when BSU was D1 and an Indiana State was a 1a. Or go the FCS route and align with those schools and participate in the playoffs. That seems interesting to me. Far more interesting that competing for bowl scraps and losing money on that. Lots of upheaval and recalibration yet to come.

I've been seeing for several years assertions about how the NCAA, or the P5, or some combination of circumstances is going to eject the MAC from D1 and save it from it's own stupidity.
I'll believe it when I see it.

Right now we are screwed by the MAC's commitment to FBS, and the answer is for the MAC to as a conference make the decision to give up on what was once a workable FBS membership.
Whether there is a future for a relative handful of G5 schools to somehow fit into a P5 structure is the question. That would not include most MAC schools though. I don't see how that really makes much sense to the current P5(4). Some provision for expansion of those super conferences might serve regional organization of the big conferences, or provide enhancement of some appreciable TV market.
It seems to make more sense for the P5 to cull bottom feeder programs. Maybe allow "relegation" as is done with Soccer in Europe.

I'll believe it when I see it. It is hard to see how it benefits the P5(4) to work with G5 or care about it. Now, they mostly just ignore those schools interests except for scheduling money games, and I don't see why they couldn't do that with bottom feeder P5 teams inter conference, and expand scheduling of lucrative TV games in conference.
Whatever they do it will not have much to do with helping G5 unless it benefits them.

A good start would be to jettison Lynch. I've seen way too many "slow starts." Send Morgan Hagee packing. He was a terrible kicker when he was an undergrad. Not a very good special teams coach. We have a kicker who's best FG is 37 yards, missed a 52 yarder to tie BG in regulation. Missed a 50 yarder to grab three turnover points in the 1st tonight, then misses a 37 yarder to start the 4th. Need 50 yard FG kickers for those close games. I don't want to hear "well he's a freshman." BSU has 12 games to play during this kid's freshman year.

Yes That needs some proof. Not what we want, but what the powers to be want. And, of course proof of resources.
