If part of Sparks's plan was to get better coaching, as has been suggested, that was a major failure. Last night was the first time I've watched IU, and that game wasn't nearly as close as the final score looked...which was bad enough. There were moments in the 2nd half where Purdue very nearly doubled IU's score. Getting bent over and spanked by Purdue is not the sort of thing that the IU fanbase enjoys watching. Same here, and I had the same thoughts as you. Purdue mostly goofed around the last 12 minutes and still won by 20. IU is really bad.

IU needing Sparks for his 5 fouls tonight against Edey I don't think Sparks has looked terrible tonight. He's had issues, but he's not been worse than any of his teammates, I don't think. At leasts he's been aggressive and pretty active. I think he looks like he's slimmed down since when I saw him earlier this year. I wonder if he did put on weight due to inactivity brought on by his injury. IMHO, Sparks just doesn't even look close to being the same player he was here. He would set screens here, but that is just about all he does at IU. Their offense seems to change dramatically between Ware and Sparks. They just never seem to look to get him the ball. Too, he just seems extremely tentative in his game. When he was here he was very aggressive, but down there he seems to have been assigned a very passive game. Now, I understand it's a different game at that level, but he just doesn't seem to be the same. As far as somebody stated about him thinking he was going to get better coaching, heck, he may be getting worse coaching.

From what I saw, IU's offense would be improved by Sparks shooting a lot of free throws.
THAT'S how bad it was.

He's a designated screener, rebounder and defender. Every IU team since the dawn of time has had that player who was a bigger body guy who was NOT an offensive focus and there to do certain things only. That's him. So not only does he not get to play much but when he does his role is a fraction of what it was here.

It was the offense they ran. Now they only do that when Sparks is in the game, I assume because they feel like he can't do anything else. IU is just bad and some of that is related the misuse of players. Anthony Leal has earned some playing time recently, mostly because he's shown some ability to shoot the 3. But they play him 18 minutes against Purdue and he takes only 1 shot. You would think Sparks might have been setting some screens to get him a shot or 2 but that's not the way they play anymore.

As of today, all of the schools our players left for this season have more wins than we do. This stings a little bit.

He's doing all the little things that don't show up on a statsheet. Besides, I think he just went to Morehead to set himself up for an eventual move to Longwood.

I haven't followed all of those teams very closely, but I'd guess that every single one of them has a "higher quality" win than any of ours. THAT stings a little bit.

I watched a little of UCF vs W Virginia last night. Sellers didn't look great, but he was WVU's focus. Farrakhan plays for WVU, and Joel Godette was announcing. A real MAC reunion

Just in case you missed it, Jarron Coleman's (4 minutes 2 points) Nebraska squad defeated Peyton Sparks' (also 4 minutes and 2 points) IU Hoosiers 93 to 66 in the Big Ten Men's Basketball Tournament.
