Nice win. Made key FT’s down the stretch. Anderson looks to be the real deal. Pearson & Bailey were steady. Jihad must cut down on TO’s. Liked Jones heady play throughout the game. Not much from our bench other than Doughty.

ODU had no size and no outside shooting, but they don't need much more to be a pretty good team. They hit mid range, got open close to the basket and a lot of that was good play not just our losing them.

I thought Middleton would do better in this kind of game, but he was yanked after a couple of bad plays, never returned.

Not much from our bench other than Doughty. Doughty, Jones adjusting to D1. Jones especially is solid, handles the ball, alert, doesn't play like a freshman. Doughty looked just a little more physical this game, which is what we will need.
Hendricks isn't quite as lost as he has been for his long career here.

Great game felt like a conference game. Good win, Anderson impressive but cant depend on 30 a game needs help

Anderson may have a little touch of Boogie in him that needs to be throttled back some times. Honestly, I don't think he's near as bad as Coleman. Plus he plays way better D, handles the ball better, is more of a team player, doesn't have all the unnecessary antics, and is tougher. He did have a few out of control drives to the basket, but still managed to draw a foul and get a circus bucket on two of those 3 or 4 instances. His three-point play was the difference in the game, IMO. Great feed by Jihad on that one. |

Was able to make it up to Muncie today for the game. For the most part I really liked what I saw relative to expectations. We have some players, and some kids that I saw as having potential didn't even contribute much of a stat line. I'll be curious to see where we stand in January/ February.
Anderson and Bailey are solid guards - much better than I expected. Doughty needs to get back into playing shape and get stronger, but I like what I see already. Jones got screwed with 4 ticky-tack fouls, but once he adjusts to the speed and physicality of the college game he's going to be very good and a very tough inside-out to defend.
Jihad sleepwalked most of the game, but he did show up at the end when we had to have someone step up.
Middleton was pretty meh, Joey Brown is an athlete but not yet a basketball player, and Bell, eh.
Our weaknesses appear to be lack of bench scoring, plugging up the paint on both ends in crunch time, taking many ill-advised threes, and finishing at the rim. Passing was erratic at times, but it's early.
Nice win.

Did y’all view Jihad as a post player back in the Whitford era? I seem to remember him just jacking up 3’s.
