For those wanting or demanding change thats what its going to take. The school does not have it any change with Mike means someone stepped up. If that happens you get your wish if it doesnt Mikes Back

If we had it there's a good argument to spend it on something else...
Even if we're committed to spend it on FB, then there's also a good argument to spend it on the next coach and his staff.

Just watched the press conference of Neu after the loss. Got to love the guy, he really cares about his players and Ball State. Tough final question about coaching changes. He needs to (a) keep Stockton, and (b) get a new offensive head coach from outside the current coaching staff. If not, sorry, he must go.

Heck, it almost seems like...I don't know...BSU insuring coaches against their own failure and putting itself into a financial straitjacket is a bad idea. But I guess since BSU only pursues coaching candidates who demand that they be insured against their own failure, we just HAVE to do it that way, and that's that.

I seriously doubt bsu can/will make a change. IU just fired Tom Allen. 20 mil buyout but “big can’t count conference “ money grows on trees.
If we did manage to remove Mike, and I think we should, I’d be very sad about that. I loved the idea of him as HC and no one cares more an about bsu football and those men as he does. It would be painful to cut him loose. But when your ceiling for wins always seems to be five, and your team makes the same mistakes every week/season, and you’ve gone backwards since the 2020 oddity season I don’t know the point of continuing with Neu. Other than we can’t afford anything else…
So, with the expectation that Mike will be back, I won’t hate it as long as he shakes up the staff. First, gotta convince Stockton to stay. That’s job 1 because he’ll get some attention now. Job 2 is a new, progressive, modern thinking OC. (But no way Mike demotes a good buddy and longtime loyalty family member). Special teams needs a better coach in terms of overall function. Honestly FG’s weren’t a major problem. The miss of the 52 yarder at bg was understandable. The operation during the two blocked kicks yesterday was not. Blocking failed plus the kid just didn’t get the ball up enough. But punt returns and coverage was not good. Lots of hidden yards lost there.
I’m good with the d coaching. Good unit. I’m fine with the new wr coach. Not so sure Colin Johnson is getting it done with the oline but they did step up the last few weeks. Qb coach? Who’s even coaching qbs because they do not and have not progressed over Mikes tenure. Is he not good at this?
No matter what happens, something has to change.

I guess since BSU only pursues coaching candidates who demand that they be insured against their own failure, we just HAVE to do it that way, and that's that. Funny how literally EVERYONE does that isn't it? Could it be all ADs and University Presidents are dolts? Or could there be some downside to eliminate from consideration all those stupid candidates who could see a BSU job without a guarantee would be a great opportunity? Sure there's the wife and kids to consider. Sure there's the trouble you'll have convincing assistants and their families to come knowing BSU wants freedom to pull the rug out from under you. Sure, all the other jobs have guarantees. Sure, you're confident you're better than they all are. Why not take the harder job where BSU needs a big change and expects you to do more sooner than other similar programs. Nah. No problem. All those University Presidents and ADs just lack enough imagination.

The game plan of running the ball as usual worked. We owned time of possession keeping Miami off the field which kept us in the game. I held my breath on every pass Miami made. Our DBs played well and kept the big play form taking over. Miami only had one or two big passing plays. It seems that Mike is sold on Kelly and that with hard work his passing will improve. He did make some nice throws and also some duds. Many here have compared him to Finn. Special teams on kickoffs was a mess. How do you FG a kick higher? I think that I could win at least one Big Ten game for 20 million by surrounding my self with a really decent staff and get fired. Don't want the staff to be really good because Iu might keep me. Get fired get my 20 million buy a ticket and Atlantis here I come.

I would be ok with Neu another year only if there is a neu OC. I loved the Kent game where they started with 2 runs up the gut for 2 yards and then the high percentage bomb. It is still a true head scratcher the hold that family has on the university.
With respect to Mike Neu, I so bad want him to succeed because he’s a Ball State guy but it’s been 8 years. That’s why I’d be ok with another year and if doesn’t work, then time to move on. You’ll just need to pay him a years salary not to coach.
I don’t understand how an offensive guy could have allowed the offense to get to this point. I thought the WR corps was as bad as I can ever recall. I am one that begged for Kelly. We know what we are getting with him. I would have probably liked to have seen some more Kemonza for a few plays here and there to get him some experience and change things up.

I'm fine with giving Neu another year. But Neu has to know his job is on the line. I would like to see him make some out of season changes (i.e. new OC primarily) on his own without being forced. Six wins and a bowl loss would not be nearly enough to retain his services after next year.

You would think the longer we hear nothing the more likely it is Mikes stay. It would also make sense that any move to get rid of Kev will not happen till after signing day. You get out if your head coach is fired no release if its the oc

Six wins and a bowl loss would not be nearly enough to retain his services after next year. 2024 Missouri state Army WMU, EMU NIU at home @ Toledo (but likely they have a new coach) @ Central In the Miami FL and James Madison games we will be 20+ underdogs. I think it depends a lot on crossover games. If we go 2-1 on crossover, beat Missouri State and Army, I see a path to 8-4.

I get that Neu is devoted to the Lynch family,
My issue is that he's apparently letting that devotion to a friend take precedence over any devotion to his job, the players, the university and the people providing his $600,000+ annual salary.
I'm sure he doesn't see it that way, but for me, if Mike wants to keep his friend as his OC the least he could do is admit he really doesn't care that much about winning and give us back a couple hundred thousand.

But there would have to be prospects for the future. However many games we win, it's hard to see it is enough to be on a see saw where we look forward to a big rebuild the next year. Needing an extension to do it?
