So here's a question regarding transfers. Supposedly, kids now have one transfer as undergrads, correct? At least without some sort of penalty.
So let's say a kid transfers to BSU for his junior year and that after his junior year, the BSU coach and the player come to an agreement that the player would be better off elsewhere. If the school decides to not renew his scholarship, would the NCAA refuse to allow him to transfer to some place where he is wanted?
I know that right now it's still just assumed those scholarships will be renewed, but times are a changing, and I think sometimes coaches want out of those relationships as much as players, especially now when there is a portal full of new recruits every year.
Would the NCAA force a kid who's basically just been "fired" to go a year without "employment."

Looks like a gotcha. Kid better not transfer...
He could graduate and transfer.

Starting in 23/24 if a player transfers from a four school his scholarship is good until he/she decides to leave on their own

We will end up with scholarship severance packages and "unscholarshiped" insurance (like unemployment insurance).

Transfer Ali Ali to Akron. No way he should have been allowed to play. He should have had to sit out a year. He sit out 7 games before NCAA gave in to his claim he transferred for his mental health reasons. Only mental health problem he had at Butler was he was not the star he was at Akron. Lucky us we get to see him play with Freeman rather than sit out the year like the rule was supposed to be. If I am a transfer I make the same argument that I left for mental health reasons which will go away if I play now. The NCAA rule is worthless.

Unfortunately using the term “mental health” is now a wild card that can be played in any situation and it is taboo to challenge it.
I now park in the fire lane every time I go to home depot for my Mental Health.
