Back in the early 50s I think we played Anderson College there. It was a sell out which we won a high spirited contest. We also had high spirited contests with other ICC schools Valpo, Depauw, St Joe, Indiana St., Butler and Evansville. Our big non conference game one year was with Southern Ill. and Jim Hart. We won 30-19, Nov 13, 1965 on Ball field, attendance 8200. Our hated rival was Butler and in 1967 in the new stadium we scored a 65-7 win. It was sweet because Hinkle was the coach and Butler that day left the field a little less arrogant. We won the conference that year while Butler finished last. Wouldn't mind reforming the ICC but impossible at this point.

These rules will change, or more to the point what FCS is will change.
As several have pointed out FCS schools in a number of cases spend at current MAC level. And. Cannot really afford it.
We would likely continue with FB at a level where we'd lose money but justify it.

Back to actual transfer news:
Corey Stewart to Purdue.
Adam Vinatieri Jr is also listed as a portal entrant as of 12/9/23.

Viniateri took a year off and then hit portal. Not sure about that dude. Yeah, that got me curious. He's on the 2022 roster, but not on the 2023 roster. Looked him up on Instagram and he appears to be on a quest to be the most jacked kicker in football history. And his dad looks like friggin' Schwarzenegger these days! Those guys are living in the weight room.

Edge. Wisconsin had him in on an official too, so he was actually getting some real interest. Maybe a really nice pickup. I was hoping we'd get Firestone. Good size at WR. Don't know about his speed, but, if NIU wanted him I'm glad we got him.

DeLaSalle had some fabulous WR this season. Fast, and caught anything close to them. Highpointed balls and came away with everything 50/50. I was very impressed.

NIU has outrecruited us at WR for years now even though their QB's haven't been head and shoulders above ours. And they run it as much as we do. We just don't seem to identify and lock in any outstanding WR. I do think our freshmen Thacker and Mukes will be pretty good, assuming they stick around. OTOH, I haven't quite understood our WR rotation and maybe we've buried some guys. But, has it even mattered with an offense that can't get it to them anyway? Here's to hoping Elliott opens things up and they get some better route trees installed.
