I think Miami, Ohio and NIU will be locked in each year. If the posted pods are correct NIU will nit be an every year game The article said that rivalry games will be preserved.

Did the CBSSports sublease expire this year without a renewal? My understanding is the current ESPN deal runs through 2026, if so, then assuming any expansion includes an FCS team(s) then the the transition should start soon. Delaware is the latest to move up (and first to pay the new $5 million fee) and will start Conference USA play in 2025. One would assume that if MAC expansion includes FCS, it'll happen within the next yaer or so that everyone will know what they are negotiating for. Isn't there an academic element that schools must meet in order to be accepted into the MAC. Not all schools fit the requirements

Why do I feel like BSU was the lone "where do we put them" in the pod arrangements? OU certainly isn't much of a rival for us.

I know I am late to realizing this, but I just heard about these pods next season. I am confused why we would be with Ohio and not NIU if we have a trophy game with them. I agree that they said that rivalries will be preserved but I think they meant by being placed in the same pod so there’s a real possibility the bronze stalk is an every few year thing. I think it would have made sense to have NIU in ours since I don’t know if NIU has any other trophy games?

Can't subdivide and make everyone happy. I don't know why they got rid of divisions if they were just going to divide again.

NIU trophy game will be honored each year outside of the pods (i.e. played each year, along with two pod teams). Ohio, Miami and BSU are the southern most schools forming the southern pod.

I don't mind. If we can't beat the better MAC teams we don't deserve to go bowling or win the conference. Ohio and Miami have been solid lately, but things can change in a hurry anymore.

Being in a pod with Miami and Ohio makes sense to me. And I don't mind being in a strong pod (maybe not the strongest). We're darn close to Miami (~70 miles). And Ohio isn't that far either. I like our pod. I love to hate Miami. Reminds me of the old days with Palombizio / Szczerbiak.

If we are going to compete, we need to be able to compete and beat these two/three.

I hate that trip.... Miami is a great trip though Except I have to sit with inlaws who are Miami fans...very bad unless we win. Only good thing was getting to know Charley Cole. Can't think of much good on FB side.

Pods don't apply to basketball or other sports do they? Just Football.
