Toss ‘em all and start with 12 free agents. Really, how much worse could it be? There’s barely a DI on the entire roster

Jihad is gone. He’s gonna get poached from a big 10 school that will throw NIL $ at him.
Off-season will be interesting

He’s the best we have and seems like a good kid, but he’s soft and a turnover machine. Could teams like Ball State raid lower divisions best players on their teams and be competitive in the MAC? Like Oakland City had a guard that was hard nosed and talented. This roster turnover sucks but it has to be done. This isn’t good for college basketball and all sports in general.

You guys do realize if he drops a kid on his head and flat out says your not coming back he will never get a kid from that high school again right. Does not Matter for out of state kids but it does if Indiana kids remain a focus. The portal has changed things but AAU coaches and Ads/highschool coaches dont forget a coach doing that.
I fully agree it needs to be done but there is a risk also with little to no NIL we are not getting inpact portals
We have to find guys that we think have flashed or have shown that given more minutes will be solid MAC players again its Lewis to pick out these kids

We are not getting anyone even like I jihad from the portal with out some cash.. Im not saying jihad is great but even plsyers like him tequire payment That's why we really couldn't replace our good players lost. Talent at high end will cost We can try. Hope to get lucky on players with upside, but our game will be finding players who fit. Lewis didn't get that with Clearly, Bell, Adams. Did better with Jones, Middleton the freshmen, a little better with Bailey, Anderson. They aren't the defenders he wants to be really fitting well. Maybe Doughty, Watts fit, who knows? The trouble with the portal is not having time to know the recruits, unless you recruited them from HS earlier. Stats you get, personality, work ethic, grit, you don't know. A 1000 kids, having some talent in common, but many that they didn't or couldn't adjust the way they needed to, or in other words didn't fit.

Well, the good news there is we only have 5 Indiana kids (one a walk-on who there's really no commitment to) on the roster. So still plenty of folks to drop on their head if the coach decided to take that route.

It's not dropping on their head to tell them straight where they stand and tell honestly where they could do better.
It's more a matter of uncertainty about a few, but plenty of reason to expect they're better off moving on.
We still don't know what the Adams story is, not much of an idea about Brown who we knew was probably a year away. Bell has had plenty of chance. Zagorsak has apparently been doing something right but a long way away.
Hendricks gotta be done with school...
Injuries? Watts a grad transfer, might have a year for injury and might be as good as we could get if he does. Doughty is maybe out of BB with a stubborn injury, likely good news if he's not and stays.
Keep the rest, if they are ready to work to turn it around with Lewis.
Replacing a good number of players has pluses. It's bound to bring some problems, too. Like somebody says above off season should not be dull. And Fall bound to have some surprises.

It's very sad, but all loyalty is gone. Coaches are literally fighting for their lives now. I guarantee all bets will be off with Lewis.

I would simply say the bb house is on fire and the cupboard is bare!!
Say what you want about Whit and a lot of it would be true but fact is Whits staff recruited better than Lewis and staff to date!
It actually hurts to say that but it’s absolutely true!
As the Head Coach It’s good to have fire in the belly and to show your players you got there back but did you see the chemistry between the players and Lewis as well as the Coaching Staff…..wow! I don’t think I’ve seen worse in decades with the exception of Thompson.

It’s 10x harder and and if you are great at hs recruiting, then they will leave after 1 year for $$$. Developing talent for 2-3 years is done. This is like fantasy football, except some of your competition has money to outbid you for players you want to draft. Pair that with Lewis’ hard ass style, it’s not a recipe for success. If this was 2010, Lewis would be a home run. The game has changed and not for the better. All this being said, no way we shouldn’t beat teams like we lost to them on Saturday.

No. No. No. Lewis has really only had ONE recruiting class and is operating in an atmosphere that is TOTALLY different than Whitford ever experienced. You can not draw a conclusion that Whitford is/was a better recruiter. You can ONLY compare Lewis, or anyone else, to coaches operating in today’s situation. It’s an entirely new world and how quickly coaches (primarily mid majors) adapt to the new circumstances will determine their short and long term success.

Heres the thing while its valid its still on Lewis to figure it outband find a way to make it work. His job is to Win but with out nil help its not going to matter. The admin has to get things in place on that end. Many schools even some MAC schools the fans/donors are donating to the Nil foundations. I posted the link to the feed the bird foundation nil thingy... How many of you donated to it? We can bitch but we are now part of the problem if we are not donating.
