Jihad landed hard on his tailbone. Hopefully that doesn’t cause any issues.
We aren’t a very bright team. Basketball iq is so low. Terrible turnovers, fouling a guy shooting a 3, missed fts. And that was just in the last minute. We just suddenly stop executing the offense in the final minutes of games we could just trade baskets and win easily and make it so hard on ourselves. Is it any wonder Lewis loses his mind?

I get the IQ thing, but does our staff have it? Playing so bad on press offense going into March is inexcussable.

Criticism is easy to spew on here whether it is toward coaching or playing. I am 100% guilty of both. The Cardinals are making a habit out of fading to almost nothing in the last 10 minutes of recent games. 6 guys played 97% of the available minutes tonight. That is a very typical statistic. They have to be absolutely gassed down the stretch run of games. It’s certainly not their fault that there is no one capable of stepping in or being allowed to step in. Hats off for these 6 or 7 guys being 14-14.

Crazy night in the MAC tonight. Akron, Toledo and Central, the top three in the standings, all lose. Toledo lost at home to Northern. Eastern also beat Western for us so if we beat the Broncos at home Saturday and Kent in the last home game Tuesday we would have a legit shot for Cleveland.
Sadly, I wish they were all road games because we’re demonstrably better outside of Worthen. With the victory tonight, the Cards are 5-3 on the road and 1-6 at home. We gag in front of the faithful.

When you don’t have players who can execute it… These players if fresh can probably execute adequately. Maybe not ever be exceptional at destroying a press, but the late game play, shooting, defense, everything's affected by fatigue, it's not just BB IQ, or ability.

Can’t get too excited about the win as I know they’re just setting us up to miss the tournament in the most painful way possible.

Yep! Something tells me that a lot will ride on the last game of the season.
We finish with WMU, Kent, BG
WMU finishes with us, BG, and Akron.
If we lose to BG and WMU beats Akron to sneak in to the tourney that would be BSUish for sure!

Do we really want to make the tournament?

Do we really want to make the tournament? We want the team to play to it's potential, to improve, to win games. They could do that and make or not make the tournament. The tournament itself, should they make it might give a chance to prove a little something playing well against a good MAC team. If there's some way to end a long season on relative high note, hell yes, I want that.

I should have kept confidence in my predictions from weeks ago that it was more likely than not that we would make the tourney, that it would come down to sweeping Western, and that a tie breaker would be involved. I let you all's negativity affect me too much.

Where has that Pearson been all season?!
We looked like we actually wanted to win last night!
To me, thats the most effort I’ve seen all year; we were diving on the floor for loose balls, and going hard for the 50-50 balls, hard nosed defense, etc

Do we really want to make the tournament? For us, maybe not because we know it will likely be one and done. For the players? Hell, yes. Regardless of our fan frustration or what we may think about our roster and shortcomings, these kids deserve some karma and a chance to feel some accomplishment for what has been a rough season.

Good point. Something positive and a feelings of accomplishment also can't hurt us in setting up for next season. Proving what effort and focus can accomplish might crack through some players that have not quite bought into that. Odds are we have more bad basketball left to see, it's where we are, but they did prove they can play well and what they have to do differently to do it. 3 more "classes" in the season coaches don't want to waste.

There's the financial component too, though. 2 nights of hotel, food, bus, etc.
