There's the financial component too, though. 2 nights of hotel, food, bus, etc. A fraction of the cost of a meaningless bowl game. But on our budget...maybe they can do some recruiting of transfers...

Do we really want to make the tournament? For us, maybe not because we know it will likely be one and done. For the players? Hell, yes. Regardless of our fan frustration or what we may think about our roster and shortcomings, these kids deserve some karma and a chance to feel some accomplishment for what has been a rough season. Very much agree.

I'm not worried about whether we have the money in our budget to send the men's and women's teams to Cleveland. I'm as frustrated as anyone with the way the season has played out but I'm sure as hell not gonna root against us finishing strong and earning a berth in the tournament just because we won't be a favorite to win it. As I noted in another thread, 7 of our 9 losses in conference are by an average of 5.5 points and frankly we play better on the road than at Worthen so who knows. If we could get in and win just one game it would be a helluva way to start the off season. I fully acknowledge that we may go out and lay an egg on Saturday and Tuesday but maybe, just maybe we can get a little mo going our way instead. That's what I'm hoping for.

What do you mean about the comment being sad? Michael Lewis himself has bitched openly more than once this season about the "financial realities of MAC schools". It is a sad reality, unfortunately. And who said we were rooting against? Honestly, this season has sucked so bad against very bad competition that I could really care less at this point...doesn't mean I'm "rooting against". Further, if this team somehow pulls off a miracle run, I'll be on here like everyone else proud as can be...

Does anybody know if Coach Lewis did a press conference after last night's victory? Haven't been able to find one. If someone could post a link it would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

I hope we get to Cleveland. If nothing else for the prestige.

You posed the question "do we really want to go to Cleveland?" and when I said of course we do, you brought up paying for hotels and food and a bus which is lame. I get that our Athletic Department faces financial challenges like a lot of lower mid-majors but you know darn well we have the money to spend on this in the budget so to intimate maybe we don't want to go to Cleveland given our futilities sure doesn't sound very supportive. You just stated you could care less. Maybe this will all be moot come next week if we lose both home games but I just think given the adversity we've endured that our SA's deserve a meager reward which getting in would be.

Yes, I have heard him express this point and especially after the Texas trip for the MAC vs SUN BELT Challenge. My feeling is to shut up, do your job, or leave and go to a Big10 team that has MAGA-bucks. You’re at Ball State. It’s a great place to be, I would never trade my time on campus for anything on earth. Love it or leave it!
