I’m just gonna write that up as karma paying them back for that 2020 football cluster of a last play that sent us to Detroit. I was thinking the same thing! Good trade in my book. We got a championship out of that.

In a game that just ended, Kent held off CMU in overtime. Had Kent lost, we would have still had a very plausible route to the tourney.
Now we are two behind three teams with two left to play. Kent, WMU, and BG.
If we WERE to win the last two and any of the three aforementioned teams lost two, what would happen? If I am understanding the tie breakers correctly, Westerns win over OU and BG's over Toledo would give them the tiebreaker over us, given that the head-to-head would be a split.
On the other hand, with Kent, the tiebreakers would go very deep. Our in-conf record is very, very similar to theirs. Don't quote me on this but I think it goes all the way down to Kents win over BG would beat our split over BG and Kent's 1-0 record with WMU trumps our 1-1 record against WMU
So, I think we may actually be mathematically eliminated? Not 100% sure but it looks that way to me at the moment.

It might be a blessing to be eliminated after this loss. Just a gut punching loss.

The fact that the ball traveled all that distance and even bounced one time unmolested by any player from either team is an indication of how bad both of these teams are. That's the sort of thing that might happen in a game in 3rd grade gym class. The MAC may be wondering if they can somehow keep BOTH of these ridiculous teams out of the tourney.

Two punchy teams slugging it out like boxers in the last round of the fight.

Why did we not contest the throw in? Make the inbounder throw a lousy pass. Most basic rule of this play is don’t let your man get behind you.

That might have been the most pathetic way to lose a game in the entire history of basketball.

Why did we not contest the throw in? Make the inbounder throw a lousy pass. You think that wasn't a lousy pass? That the play as planned was "Let's bounce one to the guy running in from the baseline?"

All Jones had to do was stay home and the ball bounces right to him. 🤦🏻♂️

All Jones had to do was stay home and the ball bounces right to him. 🤦🏻♂️ Or at least the ball hits him in the head and bounces in a harmless direction....as the Benny Hill theme song plays.
