Now your focusing on my use of Grass Roots so lets make it simpler Would you rather see a promoted Nil collective that might have a chance at picking up a few bucks from ordinary alumni or maybe a small local businesxd Or a collective that is not promoted and that 99.9 percent of alumni does not exist... Now dont focus on the 99.9 part of statement No argument about doing more doing no harm. I do believe that about 99.9% of the alumni able to make make a difference can easily enough do so, and I'm skeptical about the kind of post everybody is gushing over would help much. I'm not really sure even a highly professional effort is really cost effective. Very much doubt the results of doing less. Go fund me type efforts need a hook. I know a little of what we do in athletic fund raising, would like more done, but NIL is all about boosters with money willing to spend. We have not too many of those. No harm trying, though. Our site, the content, the promotion of it, social media aspect, and the general marketing effort is bare bones, at best. It was put together by volunteers and now it's an orphan. Even though it is not managed by the University it can still be promoted by it and there are plenty of compliant and creative ways to make it work better. It appears our official stance is hands-off, not ours, nothing to see here, move along. As a mid-major in a rust-belt town, we should embrace any opportunity to improve our chances and out-hustle our conference cohorts. Your rebuttal is always somewhere between skeptical and contrarian to whatever new idea is suggested for "pick the subject". Attendance, hiring, fundraising, promotion. We have floundered in our top two revenue sports but especially in men's basketball because of this kind of mentality. Since this collective is not managed by the University, there's a real opportunity to do it well. How many small businesses and not-for-profits reap significant rewards because they have invested in their online brand and made it easy to do business. I expect that a portion of my donation to a non-profit goes towards the management and promotion of the entity. That's how they get more donors. Your response on a previous post makes that sound implausible which is complete crap. Whether that is outsourced to a marketing firm or funded by a part-time staff position it is done all the time. If you think small-time that is what you will stay. To be clear, I have no delusions that donors and alums are going to line up in droves to donate to the NIL collective if we just upgrade our website and social media posts, but I do believe we could significantly improve our chances by putting forth more than the minimum effort. Someone needs to own this process, and there are smart, forward-thinking schools who are working with their donor bases to find a home for the collective, fund and structure and staff it properly, and create a PLAN to maximize it's impact to send a message to their coaches, prospective recruits and donors that they plan to compete for championships in this new era. Or we can just do C level work and continue to watch the Dance every year instead of play in it.

And to keep things in perspective, the amounts needed to be at or near the top of the MAC in basketball NIL is not some huge amount of money that is somehow far beyond the means of the impoverished peons in East Central Indiana.
From what I can see, a total disinterest, if not outright hostility, towards NIL by the athletics department is a worse problem than lack of potential money. And an entirely self-inflicted one.

Another interesting name that has yet to sign anywhere is 6'6" Dontaie Allen of Western Kentucky. Dontaie held the Kentucky HS scoring record until recently. He has in the gym range, but is not the most aggressive defender. Signed with Kentucky and redshirted his first year. Played off the bench the next two years before transferring to Western. Was at Western two years and now has a 6th Covid year available. His stats from 2023-24: - Started 13 of 33 games - 41% FG - 40% 3's - 71% FT's - 8.2 ppg - 3.0 Reb's - 22 Steals - 21 Assists - 37 TO's

tomorrow is the portal deadline so we're gonna see a huge influx of guys/gals going in today. Lewis can afford to be patient and let the dust settle now that he's signed two guards who will play a lot. Let's see if a nice wing forward and point guard fall into our laps in a couple weeks.

Fun Fact - Herman was slated to play the judge in "A Few Good Men" but he kept stealing every scene from Jack Nicholson and Tom Cruise, so they had him removed. Hey, I was good in My Cousin Vinny!
