I thought I read that MLS has stated repeatedly that they would never, ever, give the Indy Eleven ownership group a team, that they really didn't have sufficient funding to complete the Eleven Park project, and that it appeared their plan was to get it started and then dump it on the taxpayers. MLS actually approached Hogsett. That is the explanation I saw for why Hogsett (who I do not care for btw) and the city has taken the direction they have. MLS passed on Oz a couple times, so it didn't look like he would ever get there. Stadium funding ALWAYS involves taxpayer money, and when it was announced I didn't think that it was a good deal, considering the attendance the Eleven draws. Regardless, it makes the city look bad, for the way it pulled the rug out from Oz. Had the city said no from the start, it would have been much more palatable. Of course, Oz may have been looking to fleece the city... that could very well be. I don't live in Indy, so I have no dog in this hunt, but as an outsider looking at how it was handled, it just looks like Hogsett can't be trusted. |

I don't understand why Herb Simon should be a negative, but I'd bet any questions marks about financing are fatal at the Statehouse and with MLS. Herb Simon is a piece of shit. |

That was before a billionaire backer from Fort Wayne stepped in. Helps fund more privately before asking for the handouts |
