Did you guys see Paddock signed with the Falcons as a UDFA. Not sure he would've received that opportunity if he had stayed with Neu/Lynch.

We fail with QBs and it's just incredibly perplexing.

The current state of the program kills me. I think it'll take us years to recover once Neu is gone.

Oh I hope not. We've been competitive, score wise, in the MAC, with what we have. I'm hopeful a new coach can take that talent that's been close to winning and build a winner. Winning the 4th qtr is something we've not been able to do with Neu and the next coach, assuming a good hire is made, can flip that and turn it into success.

Despite success at Illinois, doesn't seem to me enough for a camp invite. Not a big arm or a dual threat.

Cardfan, I hope you're right, after the spring practice it felt like took a step or 2 back.
I know the starters for the Oline not in, but QB play I felt was iffy, the Def under the new DC was not very polished. Maybe the players are still learning/adjusting to the new system.
I feel like this year will be a LOOOONG year...

They need the time in Fall camp to bring it all together. Several staff changes and a bunch of new players. Probably won't matter.....

Neu/Staff = recruiters, not coaches

Point being, Plitt and Paddock both get/got NFL camp shots yet we had one winning record in all of their time and came up short far too often when we needed a game winning drive in the 4th qtr. Our one winning season was the covid year and while great, was an anomaly based on all the other Neu years. Kelly will probably go on to have a very nice college career and we couldn't do much with him because we chose not to. Will it be any different with Semonza? Having a former stud qb and "Drew Bree's QB coach" as head coach, you'd think we'd have gotten more out of the QB position over time. Part of the problem is totally on Lynch, I know. Never met a running play or short throw in the flat he didn't like. Part of it is the failure to recruit around the QB's we did have-- some years the WR positions were weak, some years the oline couldn't pass protect well enough. The totality is a lot of bad offensive football.

Riley Neal signed free agent contracts as well. With the Broncos and Browns.
Don't forget we've shot ourselves in the foot with play calling too. Way too many times.
