Yikes. What a mess. That's pay to play and bribing a kid to sign and that's not remotely how this thing was supposed to work. Compensate him after he's on the team, sure. Even better would be compensate these kids AFTER they've done a damn thing on the field.

I did see that every player on a team that is in the new EA Sports College Football 25 game that will be released this summer is going to get $600 and a copy of the game. So all our players will get that.

It shows how the programs with lots of big boosters and commercial ties are in a whole other NIL universe, even without any fraud it's not really NIL, it's enabling boosters to be controlling shareholders for those programs.

Boosters, who are primarily just local business men, are generally a better class of people than hypocritical, self-righteous NCAA bureaucrat types. The system is obviously currently unsettled but has the potential to be much more honest and transparent than the NCAA's previous system of under-the-table payments, shoe company money and nauseating, self-righteous, dishonest but fashionable blather.

Sherm, the boosters paying big money that created "corrupt" under the table payoffs are the same boosters doing NIL. Their motives no more pure of heart... Their payments not somehow proportional to the university's revenue earned.
Saying it's "legal" now doesn't change much in terms of how it hurts college sports. That we now know a bit more transparently how much athletes at P4 schools are paid doesn't help BSU.
The case for NIL is to give players some needed financial support. Players getting legal million dollar payments surely helps them but doesn't solve the problem of kids at BSU who can't afford expenses of school since their NIL is of small value, and we lack the big boosters.

I’m trying to make sense of this too. So for a normal person is it like this…
MattG is looking for a PM job with Calhoun Inc. Calhoun Inc. offers a $1 million down payment as part of my salary, which would be about $13.5 million over 4 years. I accept this offer even though I had a $9.5 million offer from Sherm Inc.
Calhoun Inc. ends up not actually having the funds to pay my down payment or salary, so I get angry and move across the country to work for Cardfan Inc. at a much lower salary.
I’m now going to sue Calhoun Inc. because of the money I “lost” from not working at Sherm Inc? Also I have since left Cardfan Inc. and now work for LurkinMcGurkin Inc.
This sums it up right? Haha!

Haha! 00hmh can represent the plaintiff and defendant. For plaintiff a discounted contingent fee. Easy money there. For defendant I'll need a retainer and hourly rate. Can't promise much. Those idiots never were willing to pay for advice which would have prevented the mess they're in.

Sir, NEVER trust Calhoun Inc. It's a front. Also, LurkinMcGurkin Inc might tell you to kiss their ass. Your best bet? You should have gone with Sherm Inc. He's a real firebrand in the business.
