With the current atmosphere, if the MAC would waive the manditory FBS football thing, the conference might be able to bring in some strong midwestern schools and have a pretty attractive conference for basketball, baseball, etc. Ask the Big East how that turned out. The current BE schools prioritized basketball, while the now-AAC schools prioritized football. You can't serve 2 masters. I don't have access to any Big East AD's to ask...so how DID it turn out? Seems to have turned out pretty well basketball strength-wise as they just won a natl championship and had 4 others in the top 25. But I have absolutely no idea how the whole sports picture worked out for them financially.

Tarleton State being rumored with Mount West, assuming Memphis to pac 12 if they bump the offer up to 10

MAC needs to get off its butt and get Western Kentucky! Middle Tennessee would be nice, but not necessary. It should also get Mo State and Delaware to drop CUSA AND JOIN THE MAC. DAMN, how can the MAC be so slow in doing the right thing to strengthen the conference?

I'm just waiting and wishing for the MAC to dissolve with the hope that schools like Ball State will be forced into making the decisions they need to make but seem unable to make on their own as long as they're tied to the conference.

DAMN, how can the MAC be so slow in doing the right thing to strengthen the conference? The buyout for UTEP to leave Conference USA is about $8 million, as reported by The Athletic. I think the Mac gets $800,000 per team from espn..it would take wku or MTSU 10 years (if my ball state math is correct) to break even… I don’t think it’s going to happen..

Yeah Wku isn’t gonna be a candidate for the MAC.

Tarleton is a college? I thought it was a cigarette brand.

Tarleton is a college? I thought it was a cigarette brand. The magic of FBS branding hasn't worked there, I guess?

Yeah, I always get Falkirk confused with South Carolina.
Essentially the same character, though.
