I don't think any one on here does not think Neu will get the full life of the contract. But I still feel if assistants show they are not qualified he should replace them. I like some others still feel he should have removed his special teams coach last year & don't feel it is greatly improved now.

For me it’s about seeing the same mistakes in year 3 as 1. Coach included. The ND game showed progress. But then the next two put us right back at square one. We need to see a consistent trend up.

For me it’s about seeing the same mistakes in year 3 as 1. Coach included. The ND game showed progress. But then the next two put us right back at square one. We need to see a consistent trend up. When coaches are grading the players, the position groups, the offense, defense and special teams game by game, I wonder how they are looking at this. They probably have a better idea what to expect going in to each game.
We must all agree we need to see improvement over the year.
That could be hard to measure as the competition and particular circumstances are so different and since the score is not really the measure or even W-L while we play games where we are an underdog. It's easy to see the result vary, with some getting away, and some being close.
I just have to quarrel with using the word "consistent" with this fairly young team. Hard to expect that until the last few games, and only then if injuries are not a big issue. But some players ought to be consistent, and maybe even a couple of position groups where we have enough talent to substitute where a player has a bad game.
We might for example expect consistent QB play, whether Neal has flaws or not, he should be able to be fairly consistent.
Elsewhere, I don't see that as anything we'd really expect, not now anyway. I am not at all sure we have enough depth anywhere to have a position group be consistent, it's normal to have somebody have a bad game or suffer injury and that kills you with no depth of talent. For example, we expected more consistent running game, but OL injuries have hurt that. We didn't expect a consistent a job on defense, may actually have done a little better there, despite a glaring breakdown last week.
Well, maybe on special teams we ought to be consistent...not necessarily really good, but consistent.

How many years do we get to use the young team/injuries excuse? Works well.
I’ll remind that the previous AD said we would “see it” this year.

I live in Lexington, KY the heart of The Big Blue Nation. It is basically IU South with the legions of hyper delusional, blue Kool-Aid swilling obnoxious fans. BUTTTTTT.... they stuck with Mark Stoops and it is paying off for them. Fans have been calling for his head every year but Admin stuck with him... smart. I like Neau and I'm admittedly biased in liking Elson (knew him in high school). These 2 guys are professionals with a lot on the line. We haven't exactly been world beaters with the last two staffs. They inherited a mess and have persistent facility and funding issues that would be hard to manage in the best of times. There is no "magic bullet" coach that we could realistically obtain who could turn this ship around overnight. Respectfully, I say ice the cynicism, hold the course and offer your support. I agree on giving time, but is it really paying off for UK or is/has the sec been down for the most part, at least outside of Alabama?

The thing is the current staff had to accept the commitments when they came in. They’ve only had two classes of their type player for needs they see. You don’t start seeing depth till 2-3rd classes. Takes 4/5 years to really see a difference & how a staff does.

I don’t disagree with that. But in year 3 you gotta do better than only beating an fcs opponent. We’ll see how the MAC season plays out.

UK's level of talent and play is light years ahead of where they were pre-Stoops.

Either way you have to look at the roster to decide if it applies. Last year very clear it did. And so dramatically that it was bound to have some impact carry over this year just because players didn't have a normal development environment.
This year? How much impact youth and lack of depth has should be less severe, but looking at this team before a single game, before some injuries, it was optimistic to expect a lot of improvement in wins.
I have no idea what to "see it" means in "AD speak." It won't be wins, and it may not be easily seen by fans hungry for clear cut good results.

The “it” I would like to see is not blowing games at home vs winless teams. Simple enough?

At least we won't see that happen again this year, so cheer up!

I agree with Calhoun & feel tomorrow may be last game of season you see us favored. I continue to hope to see this team break loose offensively & hope it is tomorrow.
