Lose a game and play terrible. Predictable fan reactions.
Fire the coach!
Put in the back up QB!
We suck!
It happens with every fan base. I hate to break it to everyone, but we will not be hiring Bill Belichick and Tom Brady is not sitting on our bench. Change is not always better. Change if it will make us better, not to satisfy fans’ desire for change.

I forgot to add fan reaction for this fanbase.
Drop to 1AA or drop football completely to focus on basketball! (Which is only interesting for a couple weeks in March)

One thing the General and I can agree on is get out of D 1 football and devote budget to upgrading basketball program I’ve been saying this for a few years. Makes cents/sense.

Yesterday was the straw

Yeah because this is the first time Neu’s team has played this way since he’s been here .... dear lord wake up and open your eyes. And where were you earlier this year when people WERE talking nfl and Riley? Did you miss the notre Dame game? How many wins do we have in Neu’s tenure? We’ve actually gotten worse after his first year when he had mostly Lembo players. I never expected that. On top of the poor play we’re seeing poor on field behavior. You think that shows we’re going on the right direction? What game we gonna win the rest of this year? Tell us and explain why and how.

So, we automatically become better in basketball by dropping down in football? I think a lot of people are making assumptions here.

If you guys are gonna bitch about this, at least do a little research before you type. So, are you guys calling for BSU to move out of the MAC, become either a DII (Grand Valley, Indianapolis) or DIII (Wabash, DePauw) level program? Is that it? Or, do you mean leave the MAC and the DI-FBS and go to DI-FCS ( Illinois State, Indiana State)?

If there was, it was a minority opinion. You have any names who said this? Just because some had unrealistic expectations for Neal doesn’t mean he should be benched for not meeting those inflated expectations. My eyes are open. We played terrible yesterday. Undiscipled and unacceptable. That does raise some coaching concerns and questions. I just don’t think it elevates to the level of calling for Neu’s job. I know that we are better this year than we were last year. Not great, but better. We probably won’t win another game this season. Disappointing? Yes! Surprising? No. Temper expectations.

Or, do you mean leave the MAC and the DI-FBS and go to DI-FCS ( Illinois State, Indiana State)? This is a whole discussion in itself, is it taking the road less traveled or the easier/worn out path. Is it being proposed because none is willing to do what’s required to be good in the MAC or just want to drop so the same work level given out is just better at a lower level. Is anyone considering the talent difference where we’re at right now & what may leave/not show up if at a lower level? I think, although not Nationally dominant, the MAC is a solid conference to represent & be a part of. Is there good football at lower levels? Yes, but it doesn’t matter what level a team is, the commitment to be good doesn’t change. I think what’s needed at the moment is some self awareness/examination and to be honest about it. Some have said there’s some family ties/personal connections that have influenced the program,, I don’t doubt that, it sucks. I would imagine coaching is a very small world. All of this is on the AD and where she sees the overall direction, not just in football. With her recent arrival I don’t think she’ll jump to make major changes. The football program is in a transition right now that’s been extended a year because of the boom in injuries last year. On question is, was there a reason our guys were so injured last year (conditioning program wise) or was it just all the planets were aligned? At present there’s some symptoms we see as fans on the field that typically mean there’s issues inside the program, but are they symptoms or just frustration on behalf of the players? The difference between last years game results & this years are overall pretty impressive, in the right direction overall, just not what we’re hoping for fast enough. There’s some talent coming, another recruiting class this year should augment.

I will admit that it does seem like there are some issues with this team that are staying in the locker room and maybe we saw a glimpse of it on the field yesterday. The DB’s got benched and Hall just hasn’t seemed right all season. It is a situation to monitor. If the players don’t respect the coach or if they give up completely, I could see where a head coaching change is needed. However, if this is the case, we will take another step backward before we get better.

If you reallocate football budget to improvements in coaching, etc it could very well lead to improved basketball results over several years as it becomes sustainable. BB easier to contend than football I would suggest

Maybe we should just get rid of all our athletic programs and focus on academics.
