So I just rolled into a hotel in oak ridge TN.. I was driving all day and was expecting to hop on and read about a 45 24 win where the D played bad but we still won.. Ouch glad I missed it.. No way he is gone after this year. We cant afford it but he better take on a more active roll and there better be lots of new assistants. Petes system is broken and the coach speak is growing old.

I think if nothing changes, he will return in 2016 on a fairly hot seat. The buyout of 3 yr thru 2018 is a bit steep I have defended Lembo in the past especially after the Iowa loss in 2014 but it's clear he needs to prove more with his players. However I think this thread is a fair question to ask 5 yr into an era.

Have been thinking about this all day long. I put more blame on the coordinators than Lembo. Joey Lynch has proven to be ineffective as and OC. The loss against Ark State was the first indicator. No reason to not put up more points when you had 3-4 NFL talent players on offense. Since then our offensive scheme has been absolute crap. Even worse so on our defense. I feel bad for the players because I truly don't believe they are the problem.

The players are busting their butts. They just are not being coached well. Like it or not the head coach is the one who takes the heat. Pete will either make needed changes or go down with the ship. Lynch of course has the majority of responsibility of play calling but don't think for a minute Pete doesn't stick his nose in play calling. He does.
The defense is just, ugh. Needs a complete over haul.

I don't think Pete should be on the hot seat right now, but I think both coordinators need to be gone after this year. It's clear that the philosophy of both isn't working and something needs to change on both sides of the ball.

The game yesterday was extremely painful to watch. I seriously wanted to leave at half time, but had to stay. I agree there was absolutely no energy on the BSU bench. That aside, Lembo is the one ultimately responsible not only for the recruitment of player talent but also for the hiring and development of coaching talent( or lack thereof) ie: offensive and defensive coordinators.. The Buck stops with him. Did he put Lynch in place to groom him for the OC position.? It hasn't worked.Same for Defense. I respect Pete Lembo and he has done very well with the external aspects of the program, alumni relations, community building , player development.. But his persona with his team internally is very different than what he portrays externally to the public. He runs a tight ship and I agree is stubborn to make changes to his 'system'. His ' system' is broke. The players, know this, see it , experience it, and are very frustrated. It will be extremely difficult to rally the players through the remainder of the season. We can all see problems watching the games. The players are living it. I do not blame the players. its falls on Lembo. I agree Strosky was the offensive glue in the first 3 years of Lembos tenure.. Lembo is s delegator and was effective to get results. as he had an experienced OC in place with Strosky. He didn't have to develop the talent.. It was already there. Question, should a shake up occur now, with our offensive and defensive coordinator talent, or are we destined to ride out this dismal season for some full scale changes in late November?

It is a hard thing to do. Stand in front of your backers and tell them your ''system'' has not worked and you are wrong. No one wants to admit his/her shortcomings. We will see if Coach Lembo has what it takes to make some major changes in schemes and assistant coaches to improve the level of play on the gridiron. It is not easy to look at your assistants and tell them to pack up and look for another position. I think this has to be done. Maybe harder, is to admit to yourself your plans (schemes) are not working now, even though they have worked in the past. Now those well laid plans and and possibly a lifetime of experience has to be, at least , partially gutted and revamped. The third element of this ''prescription'' and the most important is for the Coach and the AD to evaluate the state of the players. In short, has Lembo lost the team? If the answer is yes, I am not sure any change in coaches and/or schemes will make a difference. If the players aren't buying in anymore, the Coach has to heal those wounds and the leaders of this team do their job and rally the players to save the remainder of the season and in the end ,quite possibly future of the program.

In Petes presser he essentially said the players aren't getting it/aren't focused/etc. he puts it on the players. To an extent I agree with that. But WHY is that a problem 5 years in with veterans? Pete did say it's his responsibility to fix it, but how much is he willing to change/alter. We'll find out. Last week he was pleased with how we opened up the offense and did some things. This week we were right back to being zipped up and locked into doing the definition of insanity again. Why and how does that happen? Whose shoulders does that fall on?
I think our biggest enemy is us. Problem is our next opponent just put 51 on buffalo.

When Pete named Lynch OC, I thought it was because he had one foot out the door for a new job. It turned out not to be the case and now it just looks like a quick hire......
All in all, Lembo's is a very positive public promoter of the university compared to his BSU colleagues.

Pete Lembo deserves time to straighten this problem out. He took a program that had some players but a very poor record and in two years turned the attitude of an entire campus around. This year is not a complete disaster yet. We have five games remaining. Many on this board predicted only five wins this year. Some, as is the usual, predicted more. IF the Coach, his staff, and the upper classmen that are leaders can ''rally the troops'' we can still end up with a respectable season. I am fairly certain that serious evaluations will follow at the end of the year for both players and staff.
