Atleast Lynch did win a Mac championship before mediocrity set in......

After tonight's game I believe the Lembo and Pagano eras may both be coming to an end in early 2016.

Concerning Lembo and the original question at hand are 2 follow up: 1)Can BSU actually afford to buyout 3 years of Lembos contract? 2) Would Lembo's title as associate AD make any such decision by Mark Sandy more murky? It's clear it's inexcusable 5 years in to be power ranked in the 100-105 range. This isn't 2004 anymore the bar has been raised a little.

If those 2 were around in 2025 the Colts would need a historic turnaround to say the least!

Pete will be and should be safe for another year. BUT, he's absolutely got to reevaluate every single aspect of his operation starting with his coaching staff. Both coordinators should be removed (or, if Pete is handcuffing Lynch, which I have heard Pete tends to do, then he needs to butt out and let his oc call the game) Kevin Kelley has been a total failure. He makes me miss jay Bateman.... Shan Morrison should also go--his coaching of the secondary is epically bad. Or, if it's not coaching with these guys then the recruiting has been the big fail. Imo it's a mixture of both. We have maybe 2 play makers on defense. Maybe. There's just no impact there, no ability to disrupt an offense. As far as offense, Pete needs to take a look at his "system. When it's firing well and the play calling is diverse and open its pretty good. When it's not, it's really ineffective and does not move the chains at all. The last two years that's been the case more often than not. Why are we so afraid of the middle of the field and of using the tight ends now? Again, once skrosky left that was the end of the "system" working well. Shake it up!
This is all just rehash, I know.
Cmu 49-Bsu 17 is next.

Yeah he's not gonna make it as an hc. Some guys are just great coordinators and that's what they should be.
Think of what he could do with Riley Neal.

Does anyone who went to the GoDaddy bowl remember when Pete turned to the BSU fans in attendance and yelled for them to shut up? [/quote]
I was not there for the bowl game. What was the story here for Pete doing that? I am curious.
Also, I do think Skrosky will be a good HC. He took over an awful Elon team and is playing with a True Freshman QB right now. I think he left thinking Lembo would be getting a new job in a year or two and then he would come back with a season or two of head coaching experience no matter what the record was.

Well, I was hoping it would work out that way too, but it didn't/won't.
Godaddy bowl was a dumpster fire from start to finish. Many who were there say our sideline was a mess.

But to tell your fans to shut up had to be a crazy and embarassing sight. I can't even imagine that happening at a high school game. Maybe a U13 soccer game.

Pete was also reeling from getting passed over by wake forest. Im guessing his emotions were not in check that night. We looked really bad.

Don't think he has to worry about getting passed over right now. I wouldn't think he was even a consideration at this point.

I though with a 6'5" QB we'd see Ladanari across the middle a bunch and use of the TE's, but we haven't. I thought the issue the past couple of years was probably the QB size. Defensively, if we can't rush, can't we at least blitz once in awhile

Snead made a living off slants. We don't use them anymore. Most pass plays are a guy going to an area and stopping and turning to face the qb. So many completions are stopped right there as the wrs are getting hit immediately. A lot of passes are broken up because of this too. We had one good screen that that worked for Williams' TD because it was perfectly blocked. Too many of our plays require the wr to turn them into something rather than the plays being designed to turn into something big. Meanwhile our opponents are gashing us with big plays over the middle and plays that are designed to be more than 4 yards. (And they always manage to get to the sticks on 3rd down)

I've only recently discovered this forum after wondering what happened to the old forum. In my research I looked at the Elon boards and found this assessment of Pete and what Elon fans felt was a spot on assessment. Lembo was nothing short of genius in his ability to assess his manpower and develop a scheme that would allow a team to thrive early on. He did this with Elon and also with Ball State. The great thing about this strategy is that you look like a genius in the first few years of your tenure and it helps you get another job at the next level quickly. The not so great thing about it is that unless you are as adroit at recruiting and at gaining respect from your coaches and players as you are making an initial assessment, the cupboard can become a little bare as the seasons go by. This is also what you saw at Elon and Ball State. I think Skrosky will be a little better than Lembo at keeping a staff together and replacing staff as they leave. I think Skrosky will garner a bit more respect from the players than Lembo. I have heard that Lembo was quite high strung and may have burned some bridges over the years. Therefore, I think Rich will be more successful than Pete in recruiting and building a program for the longer term future. Read more: elonphans.proboards.com/thread/3403/team-grow#ixzz3p2VxJ3UC
