It's time to really consider the FCS.
1. We average 9K of home attendance per game. 2. No Conference titles in 25 years 3. No bowl win ever 4. 4 bowl appearances in 25 years 5. Similar men's sports budget as FCS teams 6. MAC ESPN Midweek games are terrible. Losing 1/3-1/4 of the season to meaningless weeknight games 7. Never have a chance to play for the D1 playoff title. That message has been echoed loud and clear
How can we petition to start to move to FCS?

Unless we could have a football-only conference, and then one for all other sports... even then, tough to see where we could fit in.

Two things to keep in mind. One within 10 yrs the P5 will break away from the G5. Two hire a coach from western Ohio all 4 of them have gotten us to the MAC title game or a championship within 6 years.

Yeah. We'll come to them to give them a jumpstart or change a flat tire. Metaphorically. So, a worse program than Central Connecticut State, and a variety of other D1-FCS (AA; D1-FBS was "A") programs. Is that right?

Just because the past 2 years have been terrible does not mean BSU needs to move down to FBS... who again they beat those team every time (Except ISU 2014).

10-2 happens how often for us? How often do we even see 6-6?

Face it guys D1 is split in two & we are = to AAA. A feeder program if all works well we next December will be talking how our xs led Kansas St in rushing, Vanderbilt in passing & Va Tech in receiving. This is the future of MAC programs. That's a bold statement..

I was making a joke utilizing the double meaning between his use of three A's where there was only I-A and I-AA and the American Automobile Association.

10-2 happens how often for us? How often do we even see 6-6? Once an indoor gets put in (which might be never) we will be on an even level playing field in terms of recruiting. A few bad years would not make me drop us down a level seems like a terrible idea. On top of that in, the past 8 years we have competed with some P5 schools besides the Clemson's of the world. What do I know though.

If we leave the MAC in football they will not let us play MAC basketball.. So where do we go in Basketball? Its not as easy as saying hey lets drop to FCS. We will not leave till the MAC does and the MAC is going to stay until they are forced out. Unless the MAC gets a new commissioner who feels differently than the current brass

I’m not advocating for dropping down right now. But, the lack of an indoor facility hasn’t been a huge factor in our not competing on the field, nor would having one magically make us playing for championships. Historically we have been under funded and under supported while hemorrhaging money. We have long droughts of being competitive. It’s not just about wins and losses though. It’s the investment. Mac football most Likely is not sustainable in its current direction. At some point wmu and other big spenders are going to top out. And we will continue to not have a remote chance of making the bcs playoffs and very rare BCS Bowl bids. I love college football. But I hate losing money on bowl games. I’d honestly rather be in a playoff system like FCS. Bowls are a joke anymore. Oh beat San Diego st last night in front of nobody, and even less care! That’s not sustainable. Sponsors aren’t going to keep paying for bowls. Playoffs would hold more excitement.
All that said, As long as we’re in the Mac and the Mac is classified as FBS, then we should be making the necessary investments to compete at that level. To this point it’s been all shoestrings and mirrors. If we aren’t going support an FBS level program then what’s the point of having one?

We've gone 12-0 and made it to a MAC Championship game in football since we made a serious run at a MAC Championship in basketball.
Scheumann Stadium's improvements have been financed by millions in donations from alumni who want to play D1 FBS Football. Are we getting any donor action on behalf of the basketball team? Our average basketball attendance is an embarrassment and we are well on our way to another non-NCAA Tournament bid.
Lets close down the basketball program and devote that money to football.
