Well he went out and got Nehls....
Of course if you allow a team to offensive rebound at will it doesn’t matter if you have 15 shooters.

Hey I have a novel idea, when you recruit, find guys who can shoot. You act like this was a random occurrence.
We put a premium on athleticism which I understand.
Really is that why we can't guard anyone ? This team isn't athletic by DI standards.

I was thinking of our efforts to improve athleticism with Acree, Coleman, Hazen, Walton where we might have recruited a shooter. Those guys are good athletes. I like those choices.

This is like watching a an old school boxing match.. OOMH is clearly outgunned but he has heart. It does not matter though because with each post written he is taking another crumbling body shot. He is clearly weakning and I do not know how long he can go. HIs trainer Kid has the towell in his hand. He knows its over but he is hoping maybe the old vet has one more trick up his sleeve. At this point I really believe OOMH is punchdrunk as his postings are clealy losing a sense of reality. It will not be long until the Kill Shot is landed

But never poorly coached. Surely he could have done a bit better at times. But, he cannot make a coaching adjustment to have shooters miss shots. In this game, I didn't like every decision, but I did not see any clear path to change that shooting. Unless you want to see him put in Nehls and Gunn in for a long period. And tell them to fire it up. Were you at this game? This wasn’t just about poor shooting. We turned the ball over at a ridiculous rate, gave up 16 offensive boards and failed to adjust in the second half or stop the bleeding when CMU made a run. Another common thread by the way. I dont one know why but yesterday felt different from some of our other home losses. This one was a gut shot and Whitford was admittedly grasping for reasons and a fix. He basically said that after the game. I think he’s coaching for his job, maybe not this season but next year most likely. If we don’t have a deep run in the MAC tourney and turn things around I think he gets canned next season.

Your right I mentioned Kill shot in another thread. Yesterday felt like it was one of the last nails is the coffin. We could still rally but even if we do I think the damage is already done. This season exposed the warts to the everyday fan and there is no more hiding the flaws

We went from being totally in control despite playing poorly to completely losing control and playing even worse in what seemed like a snap of the fingers. Even when we were still ahead by 5 or six late it was pretty clear, at least to me, that we were going to lose. And Whitford had no answer. As is often the case. He basically told us to play faster, which only resulted in us sucking faster. Gave CMU all the opening they needed. And poor shooting didn’t cause us to dribble into double teams and stop but keep dribbling and getting the ball knocked away multiple times. It was just really bad play and we had no clue how to run an offense. If we have advantages Whitford can’t see them and take advantage of them. Or just doesn’t believe in playing that way. Or the guys tune him out. Which is it?
Also love one CMU player being able to get rebounds while surrounded by 3 of our guys.

Seems like Whit wants to counter bad shooting by running alot. Thats cool and fun to watch but we at least in the last game did it at such a helter skelter rate we turned it over as much we benifitted from it.

Also love one CMU player being able to get rebounds while surrounded by 3 of our guys. I remember this play(s). It was followed by a literal five person radius around me saying, "block out." It would have been in unison but a few of us added a profane modifier.

All of the people around us muttered some version of block out as well.. Instead of chanting breadsticks maybe we shouls start chanting block out

Our defense was ''fine for the MAC'' says it all. MAC basketball is terrible and so is Ball State University.

Also love one CMU player being able to get rebounds while surrounded by 3 of our guys. I saw that several times where their 6'5" player was surrounded by 3 of ours, he repeatedly got the rebound because he jumped he jumped for it and Teague and company neither blocked out or jumped for the ball. Simply inconceivable at game 29 of the season.
