As they do each year, the folks at The Orlando Sentinel start their ranking daily countdown to FBS opening day. As of today, the following MAC teams have been ranked by TOS (out of 130 FBS teams): 87 | Northern Illinois | 90 | Eastern Michigan | 95 | Central Michigan | 101 | Ohio | 104 | Bowling Green | 116 | Akron | 122 | Kent State | 128 | Buffalo |
Others of note: 106 Florida Atlantic (Opponent from last year) 120 Illinois (we play on 9/2) 124 Georgia State (Opponent from last year) 130 UA-Birmingham (we play on 9/9) Coastal Carolina is in their 1st FBS year and are 122nd. With Illinois at #120, and WMU having owned them last year, this Illinois game has now become a "must win", as is UAB, and all MAC games. www.orlandosentinel.com/search/dispatcher.front?Query=college+football&target=all&spell=on

They release on a daily basis, so you'll just have to visit the Orlando Sentinel website every day to find out...

This poll is always fun to watch it has to be taken with a grain of salt but its always interesting.. Ill try and summarize their write up before they print for you.
It will say something like this With a NEU staff the cardinals will be energized this year. With Riley Neal and James Gilbert and a good recruiting class look for the cardinals offense to fly this year. The question is will there D be able to stop anyone. If the D can improve some look for the Cardinals to be Darkhorses in the MAC

2015 we were predicted #55 under Lembo.
2016, predicted 104 with Neu's first team.
All out of 128 programs FBS, so top 100 isn't exactly something to brag about.
Both years we finished Sagarin rated #130 or lower behind a couple dozen lower division teams.

With 8 teams rated already looks like the writers are optimistic. Toledo, Western, Miami and BSU not rated yet. The bottom 3 appear to be a notch weaker than the 5 named so far who are pretty close. We'll be named soon along with Miami and be in that large middling MAC group. Probably with 10 of 12 MAC teams in he bottom 45 FBS/ bottom 1/3 of FBS and 2 teams up there about average in FBS. I'm not sure we can a dark horse even if we play well. Unless the schedule is very favorable. But, maybe the schedule is favorable enough we'll get into that elite group of schools with 6 wins and earn the distinction of participating in a bowl game. Sentinel ranking of MAC scheduling

Id guess we will be fighting for a bowl berth at best.. 6-7 maybe 8 wins on the good side. Bad side (QB play dependent) 4 or 5 wins

That drop for WMU means they are 2 TD or more worse team this year and if we are the next team rated would mean we are a 2 TD better team this year.
That is possible, I guess.
The MAC overall about the same? But no top 25 team this year.

I pay no attention to scouting and commits and all that but I have no idea how that was a pretty stinky team last year and now they're in the discussion with Toledo and Western.
