General says it is all hype. Can't win against his logic that NO guard is good enough...

Interesting as some folks are saying he could be the best guard in football?!
If I were the General I’d pick a better topic than Nelson’s ability to help the Colts?

I didn't realize "some people are saying". Boy do I feel dumb now! I kinda agree, that isn't just what people say. Don't feel dumb about having some doubt on that count. But, it is about excellent performance that might be getting people saying things.
And, as each week passes, calling the pick a "total waste" and saying he is merely an "adequate" guard might make you consider that you have overstated your case. Might want to retract those statements.
As long as you are taking that kind of extreme position, even though there is always a legit question about drafting linemen high in the draft, that doesn't look like quite enough to carry the day on whether this pick was a good one.

Your argument about Nelson not being a good pick would lose in any poll conducted at any level!
I’d say this is one argument you would never win but I’m confident you will never admit it.

First I find I'm contradicted by somebody saying something. Now I gather I'm on the losing end of Kid's imaginary polls. You can imagine how stupid I feel!
What was I thinking? Trying to asses the impact of various offensive linemen based on the performance of the group over a series of games. STUPID! And I could have been smart by simply adopting the ready-made opinion of a mystery group of voters!
I'm learning a lot about the proper way to form opinions here in this thread

OL is tougher to evaluate as a fan because you don't have stats like you would for almost every other position. It is also very dependent on who you line up next to.
That is why when someone gets an award and gets praise from many people I make the assumption that he is a good player. Maybe that makes me an idiot, but I don't think someone that is terrible would get an award for an entire month.

And whoever the mystery voters are, the bias would disfavor Oline players for that reason.
Who watches the big uglies very closely, very few make Sportcenter or game highlights.
LB or D back, RB, QB and WR get the highlights much more often.

General was that asses or assess?
The point stands...virtually any group of educated fans would based on performance of Nelson say he was a good pick?
I guess Lucks performance to date would suggest the Colts will be a wild card?

You're right that you are in line with the most popular and fashionable opinion. No doubt about that. And that's enough for you. That's the whole basis of your argument. That's what makes you a fish in a barrel for me.

Sherm, a question from someone who doesn't really care about this debate. What would it take from Quenton Nelson's career for you to consider him the correct pick? 10x Pro Bowl, 8x All Pro, 15 year career, etc. etc. etc.?
I'm just curious.

Good win on a day when the Colts tried to give the game away. Strong finish.

They pulled that out after doing everything possible to lose.

They pulled that out after doing everything possible to lose. Yes, assuming we at BSU can't ever fight our DNA in doing that, I guess we need to figure out that closing strong thing?
