It's hard to trust the Colts at this point. You can't tell me that in 6 months, with some of the best doctors around, they couldn't figure out a muscular-skeletal problem like a bum leg? And get it treated? Something else is at play here. An underlying issue. I don't think his leg was ever a problem at all. There is video of him throwing before last week's preseason game and he looks perfectly fine. I think this all started back in the spring, and the "calf injury" was concocted to make it appear he was struggling with another injury/recovery process after he told the Colts he was having doubts about his future. The Colts gave him time to think it over. Training camp rolls around, he's still on the fence. So the injury narrative is altered to an ankle problem, making it appear more serious to excuse him from playing in any games or practices. The Colts probably gave him a deadline of the third preseason game to make his decision, as they needed to know their starting QB soon. Luck plans his announcement for after the game, it gets leaked, and here we are. This makes sense; I'd also assume that they didn't want to add a QB via free agency or draft because they didn't want to scare season ticket holders? Perhaps they are that confident in Jacoby, were calling Luck's bluff, or had a trade scenario in mind. Jacoby is a serviceable QB and they will win games, but I think they could be legit super bowl contenders. Maybe they just need him to be Joe Flacco good.

Well, they did pick up Chad Kelly. But he is suspended for 2 games. He looked pretty good, though.
Maybe the Colts could talk to the Giants about the "other" Manning...

Sort of. But they actually have competed at the very top level.
But yes similar in decline, and most similar here they have been laid low when hopes were high for return, and of course the unexpected in player loss.
