Reality Check...I agree with most of your post but I imagine IF Coaches or fans overall picked MVP to date it would be Persons...lets not forget he's our leading scorer and won the game on last second shots vs ND and Valpo No doubt that TP is probably the biggest difference-maker on our team, Kid. Just saying that Mallers does so many things for us both tangible and intangible that without him we would likely not be 10-4. If I'm picking MVP over the past five games it's Mallers hands down. Regardless, they are both invaluable. If we are picking nits, I would disagree with your assessment that Tyler is our best on ball defender. He is our worst, IMO. I think Kiapway is our best followed closely by TP. Tyler is athletic and explosive and a playmaker but a good defender he is not. I think Tyler, when motivated, is our best on ball defender. Late in the Dayton game he was not just good, he was fantastic. He is flashy by nature i think so the cosistency isnt where you would hope it will be in March. If you don't think Tyler is our best on ball defender, then you are entitled to your opinion. However, saying he is our worst is egregious.

I'll go with sometimes good, has improved this year, can improve more, and is a key when we play athletic teams.
If this season becomes really special, not something to bet on, but could happen, to me it is likely he and our other seniors playing very well that add the something extra to make that possible.
Leadership, motivation, focus, consistency. Not raw athletic ability, we lack that. But. Senior led teams especially with good guard play can be very tough to beat.

If you don't think Tyler is our best on ball defender, then you are entitled to your opinion. However, saying he is our worst is egregious. Well, opinions are like a-holes. Everyone one has one and some smell worse than others. I can't speak for away games, but in the home games I watch from a pretty close view he struggles mightily to get through/around/over/under screens. He gets dusted on iso screens alot and his man gets a wide open look more often than not from three. Again, I am not saying he isn't capable or doesn't possess the requisite skill set to be our best defender because he does. He just doesn't embrace a defensive mindset and dig in with his chest out like Persons and Kiapway do. You state "when motivated", what motivation do you exactly need as a senior when you've been suspended multiple times in your career? As I've said, I love the kid and he is valuable and we need him to play at a high level to maximize our win potential, especially against teams like we will see on Saturday. But I don't count on JT to be our stopper and he isn't close to being our best on-ball defender, IMHO.

I do not count On Tyler for anything.. I just take what ever he gives us as a bonus until he gets suspended again.
