Tyler is easily our best athlete and has the potential to really breakout! Hope he does break out, but 2/3rd through your senior year is a little late.

After reading the comments I am in agreement we were out rebounded by a team I thought going in was one of the worst in the west.... All that can be argued about, most deserve some arguing probably. I'll only point out that perceptions are colored here by our having high expectations, and always wanting more. Not bad, but I don't see all that much negative, or positive either way in this game. The Sagarin numbers in fact say Central is not a weak team at all, smack in the middle of the MAC, and the conference is a little stronger this year than I expected. Might be second best narrowly in the East! They are actually where we were last year at the end of the season, but maybe ranked lower now than we were then. We took on what is an average MAC team this year, were favored by 5, won. Game may not have been beautiful but I felt we were better, could have blown them out with our best game, and I am delighted with the result with us searching to get reorganized and with Persons not at full speed probably. Some good, some bad, but not surprised most see the negatives , they are there. But I say chill out. We'll see more up moments, and no doubt some down, the rest of the year, today I am not going to be disappointed.

Tyler is easily our best athlete and has the potential to really breakout! RC and I see it similar but I really think Kip hitting a late 12 footer and then a 3 could really help his confidence. Teague is such a better player in the low post or running the baseline. Gunn hit a big corner 3 and played well for limited minutes just coming back. Persons will be fine. I am with you on this and would also say I have been fairly happy overall with the play this year Ishmael Elamin.

I think more concerning than TP missing threes lately is his unwillingness to shoot the three. There were multiple times last night when the ball movement was great and swung to him for an open look and he passed on the shot....I understand trying to make a pass for a possible better shot but these were open, step into threes. He needs to take those shots to help the overall offense. I dont think he could jump well last night the couple threes he did shoot were all arms. Like I said I heard is ankle is pretty bad

I agree with you kid;I like what I see from El Am in and would like to see more of him and less of Kiapway.

Guys, trust me if you watch closely, Ish & Gunn are lost a bunch of the time when they are out there. I agree that the freshman wall has been hit and they will still have some flashes of competence, but the coaches are going crazy when they put them in because we have scouted plays, players and tendencies for specific opponents and those two have yet to grasp some of the schemes and still the overall intensity of conference play. Not trying to bash them just stating the obvious. Neither is ready for prime time yet or extended minutes. I trust Kip and our core group of seven far more, especially in crunch time.

Freshmen will be freshmen, especially if they aren't a Ray McCallum, Bonzi Wells or Tee Smith level of player. The MAC, despite being much weaker than it used to be in its heyday is still very competitive and the conference games are always intense slugfests, and not necessarily pretty. Unless a freshman is a starter or plays big minutes all year he's gonna struggle in conference.
Persons is as gutty as they come. Hopefully that ankle will heal up quickly. If it's a bad injury it'll linger and that's not good.

We need him badly...the only intense player on the team

They can improve a little, but if there is someone who can improve and make up more for losing Walker it is going to be some combination of the seniors. If Gunn and Ish play 10 minutes well when needed, hit a few shots, play with energy, do OK in mop up time, and don't throw it out of bounds too often we should count it as a big contribution.

I will also say I think this was Tylers best game as a card. Its what I expected we would get every night from his JR year on. I hope this is not another good game and he goes away again scenario. If he can do this most every game we become a much better team Of course being BSU basketball fans, if he does do the job we'll be reaming him the rest of the season for not doing this all along, ... Sorry, I thought we'd already been reaming Tyler for underperforming ... basically since he flashed promised as a freshman and then screwed up his grades. Have we not been harsh enough? Has it been too subtle?

Well, if Tyler has this one good game then disappears again that’s ok? Everyone is thrilled he finally had a great game. Key word being finally. He’s brought it in himself.

What's really really good is if he goes on and repeats this with other good performances like it. If he contributes less but keeps his head on his shoulders, is part of this teams success and graduates, that is more than OK with me. "Disappears" just isn't fair. Since we had such high expectations, I get being disappointed if he isn't all MAC. But that isn't happening, for whatever reason. I don't get treating him as failed if he isn't everything he can be. He's come a long way back to do what he has done over the last 5 or 6 games, he had reached the verge of being out the door as a real failure. I won't look at a really good game and say nothing else is any good.
