He has a lot of heart, but I really hate the whiny expression he gets on his face when a call doesn't go his way. Often looks like the one on the right: He's a playground point guard, but in a structured game, he's better at the 2. His attitude makes him the floor leader, which I think is why we have him at point so much.

He may be an ass but again, he has made the difference and he's our ass...ala Barkley.

(I'll venture to say that at least vs ND & BG if he doesn't make those shots, there's lots of criticism here on the board as to why we weren't running anything toward the basket when a 2-pointer wins it, and he just dribbled around then pulled up and shot a 3.) Agreed.

Whit Even said the play vs bg. was to go to the hoop. But, TP hit the shot so it was all good. As long as he hits the shot, even if low % it’s all good.

Every time I've been disappointed with the shot selection, and elated with the shot result. Results are what matter, but if he stops producing the results we'll start examining his shot selection.

Personally, I watch all games on TV, so I don't see/hear a lot of the extracurricular. I'll note that with the sparse crowds in every arena the Cards play in, most are in my situation as well. So, any foul-mouthedness is reflecting less poorly on the university than some of you who are among the 25-35 in attendance at games think it is...

But, you may have wanted to go to the basket, but looking at it from Person's POV, he may have felt he did not have a good path to the basket, so the shot may not have been quite that bad. Persons is not lightening quick, to get to the basket he has to set up his man and use the screen, that requires dribble and getting the timing and defender in the right spot, and I don't think it is quite fair to say he was just dribbling around waiting to throw up a three. You put the ball in his hands, you have to give him some room for a decision. At home the path to use the screen did not look all that good. At ND maybe more room to criticize.

I think he thrives on it though. There have been comparisons to a few intense/talkative players of the past.. Skiles was the best comparison, but I'll add another from the old days: Dave Cowens (who was a lot bigger, but also has that Northern Kentucky connection)

Yeah his game face today was leading us in scoring again and literally sealing the game away early in the second half when he came down and scored on three little pull ups in the lane when Toledo was collapsing on our bigs. He doesn’t get near enough credit for how savvy he can be situationally.
