Buffalo will give Kentucky fits. I love the swagger and the confidence. Reminds me of a team we know and love from 1989! Very impressive! Maybe we will get lucky and Oates will head to a bigger program. They have reminded me of our great teams all year long. Strong in the paint, tough, capable guards (theirs are probably better than ours back then) and THEY TAKE NO SHIT. That's the key. Well done, Buffalo.

Gonna brag while I still can. I've still got a perfect ball pool bracket. I think St. Bonnie is going to let me down.

I can't believe how big, physical, athletic and tough Buffalo is. Someone on this board keeps telling us it's just too hard to get those kinds of players when you're a mid-major.

If they play another like this one and not regress, he will have some nice choices.

We have to get into the inner cities and find some bad asses. I know I sound like a broken record but we have to get tougher and more physical. It is being proven once again the Mid Majors that have success in this tournament all have similar traits. We are not winning or going to the NCAA tournament with nice kids. We have to get tougher and stronger.

Buffalo will give Kentucky fits. I’m pretty confident that we will be OK. Great win for the MAC though.

Whitford is going to have to change the way he recruits. He's had a lot of turnover over his time there, and that reflects some risk he took. I have some reservation going quite as far down that route recruiting. What I like is the athleticism and very good guard play. The bad ass factor is there, but he has found very good basketball players. Good size, but mainly good athletes inside and out. This game was the way they hit shots, the big guys from Arizona just did not go inside where they could beat Buffalo. From Buffalo's point of view, the game was won when they just kept hitting big shots. 54% shooting will win a lot of games. The other factor which you see in these upsets is that Arizona just was not ready to play the second half. Don't know whether it was that they thought they had taken Buffalo's best shot in the first half or what it was. Easiest thing to say is that Arizona was "soft," but they just did not bring their good game for whatever reason. They played VERY well in the last game they played, so maybe they just thought they would show up second half and win. Our own team in '89 not only played great, knocked the other guy back with hard play in their big games, like Buffalo, but the big school (which was not soft at all) did not bring its best game, too. We certainly did not win with great shooting, that's a big difference here, while the big school in our case was just not playing hard was a common factor.

The guard play made this possible. AZ could not beat their guards and made their offense ineffective. Then the speed opened the O. Great game plan and execution.

Buffalo plays hard and is tough and has excellent guard play. Az lacked those qualities last night. Our team often lacks the same.
