I've been posting here going back to the old board, and while I get the IU dislike, I don't get the heights some of y'all take it. You want to dismiss a troll, fine, but the rest of it is little brother-ish. Point is, no BSU fan gives a flying crap about IU in anything but basketball and maybe soccer. We don't have men's soccer, and obviously the flagship university of a state that loves basketball is going to get some love. We are growing an athletic program known for being competitive at its own level. Would I like to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with B1G schools, damn tootin'. But we're not there yet. I grew up in Muncie, but didn't attend BSU. Am I not allowed to cheer the Cards? For the record, were the schools to face one another, I'd likely root for my hometown team. Is that allowed? Give the "with us or against us" stuff a rest already. You didn’t attend bsu so it’s not a big deal either way for you and of course you can root for your hometown team. Or not if you don’t want to. But when bsu grads openly root against their Alma Mater, yeah, some of us take exception. As would a graduate of any other school. The Wonka meme posted above would apply to a lot of my own family (most of them BSU grads, btw). I don't like it, but I understand they're cheering for the team they grew up with, before BSU was a glint in their eye. What I'm referring to is the constant hatred and chip on the shoulder attitude for IU. They're arrogant as hell, but they've earned it in a few sports, and even they know NO ONE takes their football seriously. Purdue rankles me a lot more, with their "Ball State High School" chant and their own case of Hoosiers-on-the-brain. Is that who you want to sound like? www.indystar.com/story/sports/2018/09/13/purdue-fans-chant-iu-sucks-all-their-football-and-basketball-games/1272946002/

If you ask me, there is really not that much hatred for IU from Ball State fans. It is nothing compared to the hatred some fan bases have for others. IU fans can be obnoxious, but other than that I really don’t care about them one way or the other.

There is a reason the meme exists. But, I get it. There are a couple of teams I follow that I don't have any real connection with either.

I have no 'big brother-ish' issues with IU. I hate their football program because their fans are a little arrogant for their limited success and they are an in-state program who Ball State had beaten 3 of 4 times prior to Saturday. They are playing with B1G money and B1G players and B1G facilities and I want to beat them every single time because Ball State has shown they can and have beat them before.

However, the poster in question here, despite claiming to be a BSU fan and grad, has acted like more of a troll than the actual IU fans that have posted on this board in the past week. So, IMO, it's not so much that he's got that multi-loyalty thing going on as much as it is that half of his posts scream "Asshole." Now that definition also fits a number of us ... and several regular posters have been blocked by some, so it's not like those feelings are reserved for those seen as interlopers as much as they are for those seen as dickheads.

Hailing from the great state of Kentucky, I have one we can all get behind, or be against rather, how ‘bout them KY Wildcats!!!! I think we can all agree to put aside the interstate issues, call for a brotherhood and come together against the bbn! I have never seen a more obnoxious fan base who is predominantly made up of non-attending, non-graduate, no direct connection what so ever. Go cards!, then Hoosiers & boiler makers in no particular order. That is all, carry on.

I've never cared about rooting for other schools. But maybe it's just because I don't want to be a hypocrite. My siblings, parents, and both grandfathers all went to Ohio State. I'm the only one who didn't. So I grew up an OSU fan and I still root for them. In basketball I root for all the in-state schools, because I like Indiana being a dominant basketball state. I wear a Morehead St hoodie a lot during the winter - my uncle and some cousins went there.
I will also say I don't hate IU. I work with a number of IU people and all of them are very humble. They're a pretty beaten-down fanbase at this point.

If someone is a Ky alum, assuming some from Ky can graduate, I can understand supporting their school, but insist on frank recognition of the corruption and the travesty that their one and done revolving door program makes of college basketball....
Supporting football there has been very BSUish so I grudgingly respect that
