It depends to how they finish and wins over top 50 teams...I think they already have 2 or 3 wins...plus they play another coming up.
I doubt we win at Buffalo...but I'd say with a loss at Buffalo if we meet in the MAC Final we got a reasonable shot.

Quite honestly, I’d much rather like to see the best team in the conference represent us in the NCAA tournament rather than an undeserving fluke who had one hot game by a couple of guys in a made up conference tournament that draws 500 fans on the last day of the season.

Really, Butler won 27 games in a better conference one year and didn't get an at large. Are you talking 2001 when Butler went 26-6 in the Horizon League? Yeah that's the year I was thinking of. My bad, I guess it was 26 and not 27.

I am all for the MAC getting rid of the conference tourney.

I'm 100% with you unless we are the undeserving fluke. In that case I'd be 100% against you.
The regular season champ is a much better measurement than the conference tournament.

I think we've found something where sweep and Whitford are in complete harmony.

Not sure who said earlier the Horizon league which Butler was a part of ranked above the MAC in 2000-2001 or 2001-2002 but according to Power Conference rankings the Horizon was below the MAC

FWIW the MAC currently resides as the #9 conference per KenPom which is a large step up from past years (I'm thinking often #17-18 range during the Billy Taylor years) Nine of twelve MAC teams are at #162 or better with three teams in the top 100 and the poorest rated team is #206. I remember those seasons like 7 yrs ago where we won/tied the MAC West but were at something like #265 and still ahead of 4 or 5 conference teams. With the non-conference portion of schedules nearly done, we're likely to stay in the top 10 conferences. Now of course BSU or Toledo won't sniff at-large NCAA bids unless they beat Buffalo at some point, but it's nice to see a rebound in the MAC Rating on the whole.

I believe we will likely split with Toledo but hope in Cleveland they are a 4 seed and we are a 2 seed!

Buffalo will get in regardless whether they win the tournament or not Some of you guys don't seem to realize how difficult it is to get an at large bid. Here are teams last year that DIDN'T get in: 19 Penn St 34 Baylor 35 notre dame 38 Louisville 39 Maryland and in 2017: 29 TCU 44 Indiana 45 Clemson 47 Utah 49 ill st Notice that some of these teams are very well connected power conference teams even. If Buffalo loses even a couple MAC games, they can probably forget about an at large. BSU and Toledo are out of at large contention right now...even if they win out the regular season.
