Buffalo would love to move up but do you really see any better FBS conference wanting their FB program? They just dropped baseball 2 yrs ago do to lack of money. The American Athletic Conference is where they would like to go but I don't see it unless a conference is just looking for TV household numbers to attract buyers to a conference network.

Yeah I don't see any of the sports networks wanting to sign a partnership agreement to start an AAC Network. ESPN is having a tough time leveraging its brand into SEC Network viewership agreements.

Just guessing, but I doubt they would fit in well with the SunBelt Conference.

No one wants buffalo. In fact I doubt if any team will ever leave the MAC

Expansion is unpredictable.
UB will have to invest to hold on to this coach. MAC is suddenly a strong conference. So reasonably attractive.

Imagine the conference w/o D1 football. IMO the basketball would flourish.

Imagine the conference w/o D1 football. IMO the basketball would flourish. A Northern version of the MVC.

Imagine the conference w/o D1 football. IMO the basketball would flourish. If the MAC wants to survive long term it needs to drop the football requirement. In its current incarnation it's only a matter of time until member schools drop football and leave. When that happens the MAC will be unable to replace them and be forced to do it anyway.

It seems now a question of how much time, and how much the MAC schools are determined to spend. Good money after bad.

Guys their are still FBS schools that want to move up. Both Illinois St & Eastern Ky would join the MAC to play D1 FB. Why is my question but their fans want too.

But would the MAC want them? About a decade ago the rumor was Western Kentucky was interested (good basketball, a wide fanbase, at least by conference standards). The geniuses elected for a few years of Temple in football. UMass was another big-media market debacle.

The geniuses elected for a few years of Temple in football and other non-revenue sports. UMass was another big-media market debacle. Temple’s & UMass’ MAC agreements were football only. No non-revenue sports involved.
