Gotta say, Pachmayer pitching a better game than I expected
If we can’t tag this pitcher, we wouldn’t have a chance against their big guns anyway.
Central’s a pretty good team and, if they win this game, might be a tough out in a regional

Central’s a pretty good team and, if they win this game, might be a tough out in a regional He is, but he isn't. Gave up 4 runs in 5-2/3, gave up 4 walks, 5 hits, 3 HBP, and a crucial HR early in the game. Also going deep in every count. 108 pitches. Not good enough in this situation when your tough opponents rise to the occasion and bring their best. Overall, though, I guess I agree, because I figured he'd give up 4 runs in the first inning and be out.

If you’d have told me our third game pitchers had only given up 4 runs going to the 7th......I’d have said we had a chance.

He did better than I thought too. But if you add in the hit batsmen they have had a number of base runners just not do to hits.

And he just became their third guy like 2 weeks ago. Gamers rise to the occasion. CMU has a really solid team. We just couldn't match up with them.

We knew when it happened that McDermott’s injury was going to be a big hole to fill.

We knew when it happened that McDermott’s injury was going to be a big hole to fill. And Navarro was huge too. Just changed the entire lineup. Oh well, still a very good season. Just not the pinnacle that we all wanted. At least baseball competes for championships, pretty much unlike any of the other BSU sports.

The No. 1 and 2 teams were clearly the best of the MAC. Central clearly displayed why they were No. 1. Good season for the Cards. Good luck to CMU in the NCAA.

True, i dont have near the same level of annoyance/frustration with baseball program as I do basketball and football.

Congratulations to Maloney and the team. A pretty darn good season and we lost to a pretty darn good team. We might have been an “equal” without the injuries, but maybe not. Puts the lid on another athletic year for the Cardinals. Maybe next athletic season will be more like this baseball season.......there’s always hope. 🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻. CHEERS !!!!

The ''baseball bums'' did us proud. This is what we should expect out of our teams on a regular basis...not every year but we can get it done if we give the tools to the right coaching staffs. Congratulations Coach, one helluva job.

NCAA Baseball pairings will be announced on ESPNU @ 12 noon today. No Big10 teams hosting since a #5 and a #7 played in their championship game.
Louisville is the closest host. I think IU gets sent to another regional (maybe Vanderbilt or Arkansas), and CMU will be sent to Louisville.

Yes, it's EXCELLENT that we're very strong in the MAC, but NCAA Baseball is a different animal than NCAA Football or Basketball, given the # of games played, the geographic hotspots, and of course with different pitchers for different games - you're not really putting the same lineup out there each time. A number of our BSU baseball metrics resemble the Billy Taylor and Whitford basketball years that many on here are critical of loading up cupcakes: - We finished 30W - 6L vs Quadrant 4 D-1 Opponents, and 6W-13L vs combined D-1 Quadrants 1, 2, 3, plus 2-0 vs Division III opponents
- Our non-conference Strength of Schedule was #234 of 299 and we finished 14-12 vs that D-1 non-conf schedule
- The MAC is the 23rd or 24th best conference depending on your reference, of 31 conferences. Fellow "midwestern" conferences like the Horizon and Summit where we typically play opponents are 26th & 27th. The Big Ten is rated 7th (where in 4 games we were semi-competitive) and the Missouri Valley is rated 6th (but we didn't play ISU, Evansville, or any others from the MVC as we do in other sports)
- BSU's rpi sits at #114 of 299 teams, which is not hugely different than where football and basketball resided this past year. Also recognizing that 9 schools amongst the Power-6 football/basketball conferences don't field Baseball teams (and of course that the MAC is a 10-team baseball conference instead of 12 as well)
So I would temper any too great of reviews from the season to a degree .... but of course it's always more fun to follow a winner, and it's great to get back at some of these MAC schools who we find ourselves losing to regularly at other sports.

Good points and I have no reason to argue any of them. I will just say at least we were in contention for a MAC championship and thats all you can really ask for.. If Whitford was in contention for a MAC title we would not frown on his scheduling as much as have. If Neu had us near the top and competing in the West we would think differently as well. None of us asking for Miracles at BSU just being competitive with s shot a MAC championship every couple years would suffice most of us
