Considering everything, i don't have a problem with the decision. I was hoping to see him play and contribute this year. Post season play was an iffy proposition anyway. If he fills out that frame he could have more of an impact next year. From his perspective, the extra year to grow and continuing to work on his skill set could put him into a position to play professionally.

I liked the part about Teague being the most talented on the team right now , along with Person we should get a good boast next year .... looking forward to seeing weber play this weekend ...

I don't know something sounds odd about that. Do we really have the luxury of redshirting our most talented player?

If you are UK I could see redshirting a player like Teague, but I find it hard to wrap my head around the Cards redshirting a 4 star recruit.

Right now we have good players at forward, and he can't guard the post close to as well as Moses, so it makes sense.

Yes we do we have good players but I would want my best players on the court. I guess being the most talented does not have to mean your better than the others at this point though

Rob you hit the nail on the head , down the road he will be better than anyone we have now , right now he really needs to get bigger and stronger , he competing with upper class men for playing time ... also missing a lot of preseason conditioning because of his foot didn't help .... I'm sure there was a lot of thought and discussing going in to this decision ...

If he is having trouble adjusting to college life socially or academically it makes perfect sense to redshirt him. He will still have four years and maybe the redshirt year will give him the break he needs. Keep him here this summer take some tougher courses to get them out of the way. He can ease up on his schedule during the season. This could be the way to a successful basketball career AND a degree.

On this one...I'm going to state the obvious...who said Moses would start and Teague would redshirt a week ago!!
Bingo...the one who is always off on his predictions....not!
And, the coach made a great decision...the kid will learn our system thru still practicing...will put on 15-20 lbs of muscle...and will have 4 full years not playing limited minutes this year behind upper classmen

Maybe the Tyler episode played a bit into this. Handling him a bit differently to help him be successful.

Nope. Not buying this. It would be in the "best interest of his long-term development" for EVERY freshman to redshirt, but yet only a small percentage do. There is something else going on here. I'm not saying I have the right to know, but there IS something else going on here. Teague is six freaking nine and competed very effectively against the highest HS competition and was ranked high by several on a national level. We don't have anyone like that

I think some are overthinking the redshirting of Teague.
He needs more weight and muscle, the injury slowed his early development, and his play time may have been limited given we have Calhoun and House playing the # 4!
Can't wait for the rest of this season and seeing Teague and Persons next year after year of development

The conspirators could say that Whitford knows he is in trouble and in a last ditch effort redshirts his "most talented player." So he can then say I just need one more year to get my star redshirt and star transfer into the mix.
