Do you know that we lack any real shooters but we’re in the top 20 in 3’s made per game oh well our Defense sucks but yet it ranks in the top 10 in certain Defensive categories. Yeah, but we’ll never win anything

Well to be fair, we have yet to win anything of significance in forever. Certainly not under whit. But you’ve got some stats cite so maybe this will be the year. Hope so. Didn’t help us much the second half Friday night. Have to get more out of more guys to make the leap.

Some of the offensive stats being thrown out there are fine and all, better than our 11th place MAC team of last year, but not necessarily better and sometimes worse than previous Whit coached teams. The raw defensive stats do appear to be better. A lot of stuff can go into that but you can't deny our PPG allowed is down from previous years.
I'm just not sure any of that means we're a better team than we've been in years past when ... in the end ... we really didn't win anything.
I would love to see Teague on the All-MAC first team, and he's having a fine season, but the reality is those teams are heavily guard oriented. You're likely to end up with 3-4 guards each on the first and second teams and it's likely to be kids like NIU's German, Toledo's Jackson, Akron's Jackson, the McKay kid from CMU. Teague is likely fighting for one big man spot that - based on what I've seen so far - is likely to go to the Williams kid from Akron.
Truthfully, I'd say El-Amin has a better chance of making the first team than does Teague. If the team plays well but doesn't win anything, maybe ... maybe both of them could make the second team, but first team will be a struggle I think.

LMills....interesting we’re discussing two possible All Mac selections 😜
And, we will not of course know the end this season until the end!😆

LMills....interesting we’re discussing two possible All Mac selections 😜 And, we will not of course know the end this season until the end!😆 Kid you do realize that three or four MAC teams every year have two (or more) all-MAC performers. It's not like it's something out of the ordinary. However, I do understand that it's your style to try to convince others that the ordinary is somehow extraordinary. As for the end of the season, I will say this: If we play in the NIT or the NCAA Tournament, I will gladly support an extension for Whitford. If we don't play in either tournament, I expect you to support his firing.

I’m a hell of a salesmen; that’s what my colleagues say. 😊
I truly thought we were talking two first team All Mac players
And I’d say if Whit doesn’t win 20 and make it to at least the MAC final I’d buy into your plan! I would view that performance as a giant step forward, but to your point I’m expecting post season

I guess I shouldn't expect more from you. You know you talk about others moving the bar on Whitford, that he can never be successful enough for them. However, it's you who constantly adjust (lower) your standards for success to whatever Whitford manages to achieve.

I’m not sure I talked about others moving the bar what I talked about was no recognition or praise for virtually anything or anyone!
So let me say it this way....let’s just say we win the West and in total win 20 or more and lose in the MAC final...you would fire him under these conditions?
Maybe you would but I wouldn’t...

Well, so maybe it's just you who keep moving the bar. Before the season, you said this in response to a question about what it would take for you to agree to keep Whitford after this season: "He must have a big year which I’d define as best MAC record during the regular season or MaC tournament championship." So halfway through the season, now all he has to do is win 20 games and get to the MAC tournament championship game. However, I don't think Whit has to worry about your continued support. I'm sure even if he doesn't achieve that you will continue to lower your standard.

I’m not trying to argue with you but I do believe your splitting hairs!
Yes, to me it’s a bit like business where it’s fluid and you must adjust almost on a daily basis. Sometimes objectives or goals are revised a few times per year!
But, you didn’t answer my question? I guess you would fire him with the hypothetical results I laid out?

In response the same question you answered before the season began about what it would take to keep Whitford on after this year, I said he had to go to the NIT at a minimum. Unlike you, I stand by my earlier statement.

Kid, let me ask you this question: Why do you love Whitford so much?
To this point, he has clearly established himself as a middle-of-the-pack coach in a lower-level conference. As of right now, what is the appeal?
I get that he seems to be a decent guy who cares about his kids and that, in general, he's recruited decent kids (with a few notable exceptions). Supposedly, so was the last coach we fired.
But there are 353 Div I programs out there; like 300 of them (maybe more) are coached by decent guys who care about their kids.
I mean, are you guys so afraid of potentially hiring another Ronnie Thompson that you're not willing to take the chance on hiring the next Nate Oats or John Groce?
And I can't say for sure but I suspect Whitford doesn't have the love for BSU that you have for him. If Whitford does win the MAC Tournament and get the team to the NCAA, do you think he really returns to Muncie next year if he gets a better offer? I've thought for the past 3-4 years that if he could have found anyone to pay him a couple hundred grand a year he would have been out of town in a minute.
