Highly touted senior led 5 starters backRosterCurrent statsThey are near the top 100 in preseason, not done quite that well so far. They are far from home, but are very experienced and have had all but 3 games away this season. This game is hard to call, should be close game. They defend the 3 very well, played last year with relatively small lineup. Have some size listed on the roster but only one big man shows up in the stats. Davis is a Forward leading in rebounding and 3Pt scoring. Have a big guard who leads total scoring. Could be a great match up. They are stronger than most MAC teams, so a good opponent.

Can't wait to see how Ball State matches up against this team. Should be a good test of where we are at. If we lose, I wouldn't be too upset

What makes it hard to predict is that they can play better than they have, and return to form.
We can improve over early play too, but it's more a matter of learning from experience playing a little different this year and developing, while they need to get back to what they have done.
This game like many this year should be close and it's a good one to provide grist for the coaches to work on before the MAC whichever way it goes for us.
That's a difference this year, a big one. Coaches just didn't have much to work with when we got to the MAC.
Last year without depth and suffering from short bench, I didn't see us have much hope of improving game to game, not when we reached the MAC season. We could play 100% and up to our potential and that was needed to just be in game and we had little upside. We have so many more pieces to put on the board this year. Some players have not yet played their best, you can imagine coaching making more of a difference than just preparation, we can play different people try different things.

I think how we play today will help to determine how well we can match up against the MAC. They have some good size and play pretty good defense.

We need to do better than just shoot jumpers

Well, the winning streak was fun while it lasted.

The Cards look a step slow against the Wave. Now down by 14. Open threes haven't fallen, and the defense has been poor. The red and white need this time in the worse way.
Go Cards!

And then fall apart as we always do to close a half.

But it's good to play a real team so we can find out where we really are.

The Cards then gave up a nine point run and trail at the half by nine. Cheap call with .5 on the clock by the stripes on Tyler. Hopefully the Cards will play with more intensity throughout the second half.
Go Cards!

Was that even a foul?

I guess we have to live with Davis getting goofy and doing dumb stuff

I don't think Davis's shot was that quick. At least their was time for a tip in which we didn't get. The Wave had little time to make a good shot. But the heave from just over half court and a foul call on what looked to be all ball really hurt. Certainly not a "homer" call.
Go Cards!
