If Biden wins, COVID won't be the top story anymore. If Trump wins, COVID will be the ONLY story. CNN says it's "raging out of control." Direct quote from last night around 6pm. Fear mongering at it's worst. You sort of nailed this.
Biden wins, Covid not the top story.
Instead it is that Trump is engaged only with futile efforts to spin that he won, sabotage the incoming President.
Covid has not exactly disappeared from the news though, and the whole "we've turned the corner" fiction is being dramatically refuted. Almost certain to have over 2000 a day die of Covid through the next 10 weeks
He goes out doing nothing to address the problem while Rome burns. True enough by his election misrepresentation he crippled the government response so we will pay a terrible toll no matter what we do. But we could still save 10's of thousands of lives. He is asleep at the switch.
Trump and his loyalists have no explanation why such an unnecessary disparate result makes any sense. NO President in history will have lost as many American lives needlessly in the lame duck period. No war. No response to national disaster will have been as costly as his sitting in the WH scheming out some remote chance to overturn the election instead of leading national policy to avoid death of the citizenry.
BUT. He doing that would mean he would go on record to admit he has been gravely wrong.
Instead we get: Trump 2024!
"Nothing this bad will happen for me to blow it again! Don't worry! Cripple the government for 4 years, and then I can MAGA."

He only made it possible for a vaccine to be developed in record time. No biggie.

He only made it possible for a vaccine to be developed in record time. No biggie. Yeah, although wasn't that a no brainer? Give credit, but holding deaths down until it's ready was ignored. Denying the reality of the pandemic and promising it was almost over is still costing us lives. The whole world went for vaccines, did as well at that as we did essentially, and mostly will have much lower death toll than we will have had.

No-brainer initiatives will be the status quo in the upcoming administration. You work with what you have.

As opposed to current admin not working with what they have! Man, you actually bit at that one. I am perhaps hopelessly naive about government sometimes and would like our officials to actually want the government to work and to put in the effort. Especially at the top.
I have some confidence the incoming crew actually have some knowledge about the agencies they will run. The guy at the top will likely read his briefings and try to understand the decisions he makes.
Trying the opposite strategy did not to me seem to work well.

Trump still believes the increase in cases is "more testing."
Sets a great example for how to deal with it by his super spreader events and WH parties.
"Masks available" he says. "That's a good thing."
Wonder if he understands that is would be better if all the people were actually wearing the masks.

It's bad internetiquette to post a link without a sentence about the content of the linked article. Especially when I don't want to give the New York Bad Times the hits. What are they gonna write about when Trump is out of office? Probably how he screwed everything up for years and years, so that Harris won't have to take the blame for anything.

What are they gonna write about when Trump is out of office? It will be called history, then. In a pandemic, cutting budget and muzzling the scientists. It's still news now since so many deny it. You know they still write about Nero's response to Rome's burning. Maybe Trump will be as big?

Whenever someone posts a random link I never click on it. Once you get routed to lemon party or tub girl once you are scarred for life.
