Every player is going to get an extra season no matter if they play 0 or 8.. Most want to play but doubt it will happen. If it does it will not be a full slate maybe a 4 game mini schedule I sort of like the idea of playing your five division rivals and wrap up the season with a MAC Championship game. As a fan, it would be fun. But then I like going to watch Spring practice in the mornings, or evenings or whenever.
It just doesn't make sense from some other points of view.

Some of that is that alumni and fans can exert a lot of pressure on a B10 President. FB actually makes sense for the schools in the B10 even where they suffer a small loss in terms of cash accounting, a lot of contribution to good will and alumni giving and it can be measured.
Not to mention. There is a lot of TV revenue and bowl eligibility income on the table.
There is still some issue about schools closing, and there is the specter of some serious health issue for a significant number of athletes league wide, for any given team if they ran into an outbreak possible game cancellation down the line. So at a minimum some need for scheduling around that possibility.
But a lot of revenue on the line...
We are getting a glimpse into another world of college FB. BSU and MAC it's lucky if we meet marginal cost if we play, and the good will is not nearly as measurable.

Here is something to ponder. It always comes down to costs. With the Big 10 coming back to play in October, should the MAC try and do the same? Is it cheaper to play 8 games this fall and move through your senior class so you can eliminate the the headaches of overlapping recruiting classes? After all, the university has already paid for their scholarships for school year 2020-21.
My guess is the answer is probably no. The cost of staging the games, Covid-19 testing, etc. would probably be greater. It also sounds like they have eliminated the exposure to extra scholarships next year by not renewing the scholarships of some players. That's got to be really good for team morale.

I haven't heard any rumbling of this, but it would not surprise me a bit if the MAC suddenly decided to revive football. The MAC makes a habit of copying real football conferences, even when it makes no financial sense whatsoever.
Maybe the Big10 waiting so long left the MAC no time to reverse themselves, but never, NEVER, underestimate how stupid the MAC is willing to be where football programs are concerned.

Here is something to ponder. It always comes down to costs. With the Big 10 coming back to play in October, should the MAC try and do the same? B10 says they can start by 3rd week in October. I do not see how the MAC could get more than maybe the 5 game option discussed here. Assuming they can get their weekday TV that would mean some revenue, but gate late season mostly on weekdays would be horrible normally.
I guess it would mean social distancing in stands easy!
This might be better than thinking about a Spring season, but that isn't saying much.

No way Mac plays no big money games to recoup any (read: all the) losses.

MAC tweeted out that they are not playing any fall sports.
Christine Brennan from USA Today called this the darkest day in Big Ten history. Never mind the MSU and PSU things....(blocked).
