I dont really care either way anymore but why are we sending Egypt 1.5 billion dollars etc etc. Im sure any republican based bill would have its own payouts as well but why? I guess I'm a dick but who gives a fuck just take care of your own and stop worrying about everyone else

You are happy to do it on humanitarian grounds in some cases. In others, you know you need the country or don't want another power to have too much leverage. If you want to have some influence on the governments in those countries, you pay the tax. They think twice about screwing around with other powers and look out more for your interests in their country. Some time you are going to need some influence with them so you pay in advance.
Or maybe it is like tipping the doorman in Vegas.

When did Congress last pass a bill where the pork wasn't reprehensible?
OTOH, in response to Rob's question, I don't know about the Egypt money, but in a broader sense I would say that many times "taking care of our own" means worrying about what everybody else is doing. Otherwise, you really end up getting screwed.
