I became a fan of top level pro, and world cup, soccer through my kids playing it and me coaching it. However, unlike many soccer fans, I don't give a rat's ass who does or does not appreciate soccer. That has zero effect on my enjoyment of it. Ive tried many times it just not for me but if someone else likes it so be it Rob, how did you try?

Yeah, the flopping makes a game that's already boring impossible to watch.
I've seen a couple dozen soccer games in person, and aside from an Indy Eleven game this past season, have all bored me to death.

I am just stupid and not getting that in some way your fucking with me. Haha no not at all. Just trying to understand what chance you gave soccer. I mean, imagine you’re from Moldova and you’re watching some shitty Moldovan football league and you wonder why the Americans like it so much. If you’ve been watching MLS or Indy 11 or kid’s soccer you are probably watching some pretty shitty soccer. Now be the Moldovan again and imagine you’re watching the Colts vs Packers. You don't know where Indianapolis or Green Bay are, so you can recognize the improved quality but you have no emotional investment at all in the game. I love soccer, but it’s hard to follow the best leagues and there’s no emotional attachment in the teams since they are so far away. If you lived in England for a year and went to your local team’s games for a season I bet you would find yourself liking soccer. When football fans complain that soccer is boring I wonder what they find so exciting about huddles and commercial breaks. I like football, but I watch games on tape delay and fast forward like a madman because there is so little action.

I get that it might be a cultural thing and yes maybe if I had grown up in a soccer town I might feel different but I did not. I am also never going to spend extended time in a soccer town. Ive tried to watch and even gamble some on big games,Ive seen the team in Indy Play. Both made it more enjoyable for me but still not to the point I liked it. When I watch the NFL I always watch Red Zone unless the steelers are playing. I do watch a lot of college football Bsu, the Mac and Notre Dame. When Im watching other games I do so while messing with the kids, trolling twttter etc. One thing for me with American Football is like seeing how plays develope. I like seeing how Defenses respond. I like learning how things work. I guess that could be from doing this coaching thing the last five years. I dont plan on ever being a real coach but I think I am going to throw my hat in the ring for a middle school spot

I dont plan on ever being a real coach but I think I am going to throw my hat in the ring for a middle school spot I get that and I'm honestly not encouraging you to like soccer. I don't give a crap whether you like it or not. My only point was that if all you've ever done is watch some bad soccer, or even if you've watched top flight games with teams you know nothing about or aren't invested in, that's not really giving the sport a real chance. My friends always used to argue about music and I never understood arguing about something so subjective. Most of the population (including probably most of the BSU student body) would think we're lunatics for paying such close attention to BSU football/basketball. When you're heavily invested in something you view it through a different lens.
