* lightly recruited slow-footed big guy *big guy who hangs around the perimeter *some transfer who sees little competition for PT *some guy whose name I can't remember *Bumbalough Having now seen how huge the transfer thing is this year, I would adjust my predicted line up by replacing some guy whose name I can't remember with another some transfer who sees little competition for PT. And it wouldn't surprise me at all if a third some transfer who sees little competition for PT takes over one of the other spots also. That's the spirit.
Or, we could wait until somebody has actually seen a practice with the newcomers playing. Or know more about how returning players have spent their off season.
But what fun is that? I am delighted that you are in the fold of enjoying BSU basketball and having some fun on the forum.
You favor generally the path less well traveled, so this transfer strategy is sort of a Sherman Plan for success. These teams that return 80% of their production from last year are missing the wave! 100% of production of a MAC basketball team is usually mediocre by our standards anyway. It was a bad plan grounded in desperation that led Akron to go down the proven player route and put their hopes on KJ and developing his 3pfg prowess.

My new starting lineup: Cochran, Jones, Bum, Windham, Sparks. Bet you never expected how this post would generate comment.

Exactly. Moses who was an extraordinary case made an impact as a freshman. But a lot of that was his work the summer before the season, and we know nothing about how things will look next Fall.
The transfer players you get are far more predictable. That's why the transfer portal is going to upend recruiting except for those top 100 kids maybe. Although they are often not sure things at the level they sign.

When did it become extraordinary for a Freshman to make an impact on a mid major roster ? It happens all the time.

I actually think that if a freshman is going to start it will be the Georgia Kid.

Bum’ and Finish Flash at PG Cochran and Windham at scoring guard Jones and Thomas at 3 Ben and Jihad at Power Forward Huggie Bear and Sparks at Center The difference maker(s) are Jones and possible Jihad.

Bum’ and Finish Flash at PG Cochran and Windham at scoring guard Jones and Thomas at 3 Ben and Jihad at Power Forward Huggie Bear and Sparks at Center The difference maker(s) are Jones and possible Jihad. We have now added Pearson and Jacobs. Both reportedly athletic and can play D, and have some experience. The other point is we have to consider small ball lineups with limited minutes of play by Sparks, Huggy and Hendricks. None of them right now seem to me in our top 8 or 9 players. If I am forced I'd guess Cochran plays most of new players and Thomas and Bumb most of the returning players. The freshman will have to be a surprise to play a lot, I do agree Sellers has the athleticism, we can't forget him. Thomas was more a stretch 4 or 5 last year. He guarded 3 positions, probably not a SF this year? More likely Cochran as a 3G. Several could be that G/F role. I thought Jones was going to be the key last year, we still don't know much about him.
