And on an unrelated note, Grunk is still leaving. If you want to talk about Grunk you should create a topic for it rather than derail the conversation here. RC goes off the rails sometimes......

And on an unrelated note, Grunk is still leaving. Why don't you find some other board to pursue your weird Grunkemeyer obsession?

I still find it amazing that we spent the money to build the arena and then, after we lose Ray we spend little to hire a coach that would make the expenditure on the facility pay dividends back to the university! We had our chance to make the investment worth while and the administration gave up! Now we cover half the seats in plastic banners so as not to embarrass ourselves. The old Men’s gym would have been appropriate for the product we have put on the court the past two decades. The sad part is, I don’t feel we will ever see the program rise to those heights again - a one time wonder. SAD!!!

When I was a kid I watched a lot of games in the old Men's Gym early Yoder and pre Yoder. Great place to watch a game and your pick of seats because it was never full. We sat right under the basket when Mark Aquire and DePaul came to town. Worthen is a morgue now.

An intriguing name for the asst spot. Linc Darner, played and coached in Indiana. Successful.

Andi Seger replacing Don Purvis marked a change in focus for BSU athletics. When BSU built the arena it had one sort of focus, when administering the basketball program since it has had another sort.
It's never very likely to achieve excellence, or even competitiveness, when that is not your focus and obsession.

Without an extension the optics are not good, but it's hard to know if this was just a lifestyle change for his family-school for his kids and security. He left money on the table and he didn't pursue other college jobs-presumably he's got contacts around the country and the experience to land a job if that's the direction he wanted to go.

He probably would have stayed in college coaching if BSU had made a clear decision 6 weeks ago like they should have. This is what happens when your AD spends three weeks away from campus at a critical time. In all reality the AD and University President should have had this planned out months ago but I'll bet no one took the initiative to do anything until Goetz was back on campus. It's just the way Ball State does things.

The lost opportunity with a new arena went out the door with two decisions, firing Hunsaker, and penny pinching with Ray and his staff after they got lucky hiring him on the cheap.
