I think we lose sparks regardless of a new coach. How heady of an experience is it for a kid to go from bsu level to interest from the power 5 and some big name programs? At this point I can’t see him saying “nah, I’ll just stay here.”

Oh boy.................Not really surprising. I was told a month ago that whit was worried he might lose tjuse guys. Even if he Kept his job. Any reasonable coach would be. Infinitely more likely they transfer with staff turning over, especially Whit. I heard Darner isn't really a legit candidate but trying to keep Sparks and Sellers so noting him. |

Well, this probably means we need to accelerate the hire. If we want to keep guys they need to see our option. If we lose them we'll need to hit the portal hard and fast. Probably need to do that anyway. Whitford did nothing recruiting wise for next season's team and I assume those guys he was working on are no longer prospects anyway. New coach will be starting from scratch with recruiting.
It's interesting to think about how different the 87-88 and 88-89 teams would have been if Majerus had the transfer rules we have today, not to mention 89-90.

Our current team is Luke, Luke, Cochran, Pearson, Josh Bryan, and Hendriks. Total overhaul en route. I’m somewhat excited about it actually.

Other schools are hiring, we need to act. I had suggested earlier that a player or two on the team should have been invited to be on the search committee prior to firing Whitless. We are seeing the results of poor leadership!!!

I’m hoping they are fully engaged now and we are either contacting guys or talking with those showing interest. Not sure how any of that works. But u r right, schools are hiring now. I think Beth is competent, so hopefully this will work out. |
