Every fall I look forward to see what new Ball state gear is at TIS. I have bunch of it and wear it proudly. I recently gave two Ball State Teachers College sweat shirts to a close friend. There was now way that they fit anymore.

Lewis quoted Caddyshack. I am now convinced he’s going to win us a National Championship.

Lewis quoted Caddyshack. I am now convinced he’s going to win us a National Championship. Is he telling recruits: "Oh, there won't be any money. But when you die, on your death bed, you will receive total conciousness. So you'll have that going for you."

Lewis quoted Caddyshack. I am now convinced he’s going to win us a National Championship. What was the quote? Maybe it's asking too much, but I would be most impressed with one of the less well-known quotes. such as: How about a Fresca? I like you, Betty. While we're young! Well, I got a lot of stuff on order. You know… credit trouble Right in the lumberyard. Oh, it looks good on you though.

Pond would be good for you. lewis was asked about the floating green he has and if he has a pool at his new house in a Muncie.

Another podcast with Lewis podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/call-to-maction/id1485136645?i=1000557478250Some interesting new stuff on this one. 1) He's a golfer and is purchasing a house is the Muncie area that is across the street from a golf course and has a pond in it's back yard. 2) On the highway sign picture, he got a ride from Indy to Muncie from a friend he knew from 3rd grade and that friend took the picture. 3) At the end he talks about recruiting. How for this year he needs to recruit to fill holes in the roster. In time he will recruit to play more to his style of play, but for now he needs to play at style that matches the skill sets on his current roster.

I'll bet his time on the range and course is greatly reduced as he takes on head coaching responsibilities. Golf demands your time, and punishes you dearly if you don't devote plenty of time to the game.

Hmm, coaching to play at a style that matches the skill sets on his roster. What a novel idea.

Yesterday sat on a plane next to Ron Jirsa, soon to be retired (assistant) coach from UNC Greensboro. He’s been around. Had GREAT things to say about Lewis. Was ambiguous about Whitford, kinda gave an affirmative nod/laugh when I said there just never seemed to be any emotion on the bench, and it reflected in how the team played.
Was an interesting conversation about recruiting, the portal, and the state of the game today.

A constant from lewis is “the way your team plays is representative of the coach.” Boy did we see that with Whit. We can expect Lewis to have teams that play hard and with toughness and passion.

I want to see great shot selection. We do not and have not recently the kind of players that can ''create'' The coach will have to be vigilant and keep the team from taking the ill advised 3 pointer or forced jumper. I am tired of watching jacked up threes and someone dribbling trying to ''create''

I am tired of watching jacked up threes and someone dribbling trying to ''create'' Good points. Not sure some of that dribbling around was just inability to get the shot off ball screens. Lewis will hopefully find a way to get shots away from the ball.
Our small guards need some space to get their shot off. They will benefit from some screens, but have to learn to catch and shoot quickly.
Most players now seem to expect to dribble and beat people or expect to use ball screens to get open, but we haven't had guard play that can both drive to the basket off that action or pull back. Defenders could drop off some and force others to drive in where they were undersized and unable to get good shots.

Michael Lewis was at last night’s MIVA tournament volleyball match with a recruit or two. BSU swept Quincy and advanced to the semifinals Wednesday night in Worthen against Lewis. Match time is 7:00. Ironically, UCLA, the school Lewis came to BSU from, is ranked #1 in the country and hosting the NCAA tournament. Lewis has already attended 3 volleyball matches since his arrival and been to at least 2 football practices. A great BSU team supporter!
