Michael Lewis was at last night’s MIVA tournament volleyball match with a recruit or two. BSU swept Quincy and advanced to the semifinals Wednesday night in Worthen against Lewis. Match time is 7:00. Ironically, UCLA, the school Lewis came to BSU from, is ranked #1 in the country and hosting the NCAA tournament. Lewis has already attended 3 volleyball matches since his arrival and been to at least 2 football practices. A great BSU team supporter! I do like that he's out there supporting other teams, but more importantly ... any idea who the recruits were? Names? Or at least sizes? Guards? Forwards? |

I'm sure it wasn't their whole trip, and I'm sure there were things worth imparting to recruits. They might actually have appreciated watching other athletes play their sport at a championship level. Plus they get to see the arena they'll play in and get to tour the rest of the facility, not to mention meet some other athletes on campus who they can talk to about their experience. I'm sure they got to do all the other standard recruiting visit stuff. And anyway, it's Muncie. I'm sure they could carve out 2 hours out of their video gaming schedule to watch a little volleyball. |

Dude, the volleyball team is competing for national championships. No program should have any room to dis them. They are a lot of fun to watch. We have watched most all of the matches this year. Of course I'm biased in that I married into a competitive volleyball family, but...

There are something like 25 men's DI volleyball teams, let's not act like this is some mainstream sport the general public follows. We are good largely because almost no one else plays it.

Partly true, but that means we get some of the best players, potential Olympians and high level play. I wish it were another weekend since that might have made it a bigger student turnout. |

Partly true, but that means we get some of the best players, potential Olympians and high level play. I wish it were another weekend since that might have made it a bigger student turnout. Are you serious?? Seeing the highly ranked, nationally respected BSU volleyball team play in a conference championship game .. The chance to see some of the VERY BEST PLAYERS IN THEIR SPORT .. COMPETING FOR AN NCAA BID .. Really??? The worst recruiting trip ever? I think the BSU men's volleyball team is a GREAT EXAMPLE OF WHAT CAN BE ACHIEVED AT BALL STATE. I would be proud to talk to recruits FOR ANY SPORT about the great achievements of our volleyball team. |
