It’s amazing how little BSU does to promote their most successful sports in men’s and women’s volleyball while women’s and men’s basketball have all the bells and whistles with hardly any attendance from the student body and very average attendance from the Muncie community, particularly women’s basketball. Could not agree more! There is a lot of VB interest in Delaware County.
Surely they will be able to promote some student interest for a championship match and possible NCAA berth. We better promote and turn out. IUFW will bring a crowd. Should be an exciting event.
Might even get a few column inches in the Indy Star.

Might even get a few column inches in the Indy Star. The Vball twitter feed provided bulletin board material for IUFW by tweeting out details for their matchup for the championship vs #2 seed Loyola......ooops..... IUFW did see that: "hope you haven't printed up programs"

Purdue Ft Wayne swept #2 seed Loyola in Chicago and is playing outstanding volleyball in the tournament! Even in February. they led BSU 2-1 in Worthen Arena before the Cardinals rallied back to win in 5. This match will be an all out war and PFW will bring down a great crowd to support their Dons. Surely BSU will promote the match with $1 hot dogs or something. It’s been 20 years since the Cardinals have advanced to the NCAA tournament so BSU needs to pull out everything they have to offer to get fans to Worthen Saturday night!

I noticed in the post game interview Coach Cruz spoke about the days leading up to the game as "training." Not practice, but "training." I like that word. Coach is training the team to win.

Will not be fat and happy. We have a very mature team however the game can change in a heartbeat. Just ask Loyola. Purdue Ft. Wayne is really good and are not influenced by the flow of the ups and downs as the game progresses You really have to beat them. on every serve.

After watching ESPN3 broadcasts of Hawaii, USC, Purdue Fort Wayne, Loyola, Long Beach State, these schools make their matches as entertaining as basketball games with a pep band, dancers, cheerleaders, mascots and Hawaii even has baton twirlers. Why is Ball State dropping the ball here and who is responsible for providing fan entertainment for Worthen Arena sporting events? There were 16 Code Red Dancers at basketball games, Charlie Cardinal, full set of male and female cheerleaders, national anthem singers even for women’s basketball games, where only a couple hundred fans attend. For men’s and women’s volleyball, these people are all awol except for Charlie Cardinal. Volleyball fans have to produce their own energy and considering they get no support from the above mentioned entertainment providers, the volleyball fans are amazing!

Why is Ball State dropping the ball here... Who knows. Maybe they fall into that old BSU trap of seeing what we are doing as "enough" of a success? Maybe it has been a while since we were really on top?
IUFW is a little different, it had some history where VB was it's strongest sports attraction. Loyola won back to back championships 7 years ago. The others are left coast...and there is a lot of VB interest out there.
I hope we see the Athletic Department go out on this one. It will be showcase.

One of the few "excuses" I could think of is the additional time commitment for what few cheerleaders and code red dancers we now have. I totally agree with you, but it's hard to spread those groups over to another sport. If you've paid much attention to these groups, they've shrunk, substantially, over the past few years with Covid and the budget cuts in the department. I don't know who would be responsible for coordinating several of these folks to be there Saturday evening, but it needs to be done. The place needs to be rockin and not just from those in attendance, but by support groups.

After a nip and tuck first set that BSU won 25-23, BSU dominated a Lewis team that has the Cardinals have not beaten in the MIVA tournament in years! One thing we know for sure, Ball State is always tough to beat in Worthen Arena, especially when big crowds are there rocking Worthen like they did tonight and have done all season. If this was a home basketball game, BSU would have reported the crowd around 2500 or more. Whatever it was, it sounded like a crowd of 5000, even without the Code Red Dancers, cheerleaders nor BSU pep band. The fans raise the roof on their own which makes it so unique! It’s amazing how little BSU does to promote their most successful sports in men’s and women’s volleyball while women’s and men’s basketball have all the bells and whistles with hardly any attendance from the student body and very average attendance from the Muncie community, particularly women’s basketball. Was the attendance really less than 1000 people as reported in the box score ??

There were likely 1500 fans there at game time.

I sure hope we can at least double that number on Saturday, but Saturday evening for the students is really questionable.

Was the attendance really less than 1000 people as reported in the box score ?? No expert on these things, but in the two matches I made it to this season, I thought the attendance figure was pretty drastically under-reported both times. Congrats to the Cards on the win. Let's finish it up Saturday.

I sure hope we can at least double that number on Saturday, but Saturday evening for the students is really questionable. After many students leaving for Easter a week ago more should stay on campus this weekend especially with NCAA bid on the line. BSU students love this 22-3 Cardinal volleyball team!

I sure hope you're right. They deserve the support. I agree with lmlls72, too. in particular the first match against Hawaii, I thought the attendance figure reported fell way short.
