Makes me afraid because our relievers must be really weak. You're not wrong.

143 pitches for Schweitzer??? That wreaks of desperation. CMU coach probably slammed him for that, and quite frankly I would agree if thats what was said. It's tourney ball. You go with starters as long as you can to save relievers for later games. Schweitzer got into his normal groove. He wanted the ball. Let him continue. Schweitzer appears to be a slow starter in games. First inning he threw 27 pitches. If Bischel is pissed at that, then his team should play better. IMO, Schweitzer wanted to finish the game and he should have been allowed to do it. He was in the grove in the eight and would not have given up five runs in the ninth!

I also should mention that Schweitzer spots his pitches really well. He does not give up many fat pitches. In the 1st inning, he's facing the top 3-5 hitters in the lineup. He's staying on the edges and sometimes you miss and your pitch count goes up.

I don’t feel great about having to play CMU again. Law of averages….

It would be the most Ball State thing ever if we lost back to back games to this team with everything on the line after beating them 5 straight times.

god I'd have such a hard time pitching to BSU's catcher. I hated when my catcher moved to much, give me a target and leave it there. This kid is dropping his glove before every pitch.
It's harder to frame a pitch and fool the ump too. A lot of times if the pitcher can get it close but put it dead in the center of the glove it can sway an ump to call a ball a strike, but when the glove doesn't show up until the ball is at the plate it takes that possibility out of play.
Again that's all just personal preference for me, but I don't like it.

We are toast and won’t win again. Cmu has all the mojo and we have none.

Are we going to have another pitcher step up?
Let’s face it, if our pitching lacks that much depth, we will most likely lose the first two games IF we make the dance.
Who’s ready to step up?

So realistically, who does each team have available in terms of pitching tomorrow?

So realistically, who does each team have available in terms of pitching tomorrow? The really big question is whether or not CMU goes with its ace, Taylor, or not (and if he's on). He threw like 115 pitches Wednesday and Toledo ran him off in the 5th. Past him they don't have much available at all. We have our normal day 3 guy - O'Donnell. He needs to give us at least 5-6 solid innings. Klein could go a couple of innings. I suppose Dohm might be able to go a couple. Past that we have a few guys with experience available, but they haven't pitched well this year. The bigger issue is how lethargic we looked today and how some key bats have fallen asleep. Gotta forget that one and get after it tomorrow - and ignore CMU's antics!

O'Donnell or Johnson for us. CMU goes with Andrew Taylor. Taylor looked really good until the last month after we beat him in Muncie. He pitched 5 innings & gave up 6 runs to Toledo in the tourney opener. I would guess Johnson but O'Donnell has not pitched since May 20 when he went 6 & got the win over Miami. Whoever it is can't afford to walk them or hit them.
