The most bonehead move was bringing in Schweitzer a few days after 143 pitches with the game tied in the 7th. Blink of the eye we’re down 2. He was more than spent, and the fact Maloney didn’t know that is pathetic. Props to the kid for trying but sometimes you need to check yourself and get out of your own way. That’s why we have adults as coaches. That was a direct slap in the face to our pitching staff and may have affected their confidence going forward. Didn’t that same staff help us win 5 in a row against them?
It’s clear Maloney was not a pitcher.
Good year, but not great. We and they should be proud of the teams effort and season.
Poor W/L versus out of conference schedule doomed at large bid. We had to win the tournament and once again didn’t get it done.
CMU coach 3 for 4 getting them to the dance. Math wizards have that at 75%.
Maloney 0 for 17 for good ole Ball U….0%
4-27 overall (10 years at Michigan for the 4…that’s 15%).
Out of curiosity, how many times has Maloney’s team lost in the MAC tourney championship? Probably the reason for the desperation.
Say what you want about CMU’s coach but he clearly knows how to coach at crunch time. The good news is he’ll probably be the head coach of a power five conference soon.

That was a direct example of our coach choking and throwing up all over himself at crunch time.
I want Maloney as our coach, but he needs to learn from his mistakes in the past. Especially managing his pitching staff both physically and mentally.
We need to start the season better next year with ooc schedule to avoid MAC tournament win or bust. We need to earn more respect nationally. The selection show didn’t even have us on the bubble with 40 wins.
