really love to understand the rational behind hiring an outside person to be interim director of a dept he's never been in. The message sent to Haven and the rest of the dept. is not good.

I don't know. At least this shows we are not going to have a long interregnum. A search completed in a few months is moving pretty fast. Speed is I think important here, too much going on to have a placeholder who would be reluctant to make big decisions, or maybe not ready to handle that. And, I am not sure I want to name any insider who would be a candidate if we are doing a search to include outside candidates. |

Haven is due and would be a good choice. The strong football background is WAY different from Beth and us "non-revenue" sports followers just might get left in the dust. It's key for a MAC AD to have a strong football background. That can be the difference between a football program that is a pointless money-bleeding fiasco and a football program that is a pointless money-bleeding fiasco. |
