Thanks for all that you do for this board. Really appreciate the inside scoops. Speaking of cussing like a sailor listen to the song "In Spite of Ourselves " by John Prine and Iris Dement.

Not going to be home tomorrow I’ll consider it Sat and Sun. You guys will have to put up with my wife’s screaming. She talks to the TV a lot and cusses like a sailor Man, I'd feel right at home. My wife does the same thing.

It's no mystery what to expect teams to do against us. We are not that hard to scout. They all will have seen we aren't shooting all that well outside and should pack in to control Sparks and stop our driving to the basket. We may learn how well we can adjust to that, and whether we have enough shooting to deter it, or whether we will have a lot of work needed to solve that problem.
I'd bet Lewis is talking defense and effort with the players. Try to avoid being knocked back on our heels like the ISU game. He should have a good game plan against Vermont but it's hard to say who we play next...
With 3 games in 3 days you have to wonder if we have enough depth to maintain pressure on D, and whether we could have had enough scouting to come up with good game plans for 7 possible teams.

BSU is shooting above NCAA average on threes, as they did last year. This is despite Bumbalough and Jacobs shooting a combined 2-19 so far.
And of course, the opposing coaches at this tourney will utilize a time space inversion technique so that they will have ample time to scout BSU, thus making it a net disadvantage for BSU and a potential excuse.

I don't know about any time space inversion, but I bet they are worried about our scoring in the lane and make us prove we can hit 3's.

We may not have Steph Curry, Reggie Miller, Desmond Bane and Luke Brown, but looking at the stats, it seems to me we have good enough 3 point shooting that a competent coach could really make a team pay for packing in the defense.

Struggling with free throws early and Vermont is making everything. Not a good start.

In the actual game, 6 mins left in first half, we are 1 for 6 from 3 and under 50% on FT%...

We might need to start practicing free throws.

Did not watch, but from a box score perspective, terrible FT shooting was decisive. If we hit their FT % it's a tie game

Also need a 7th player to contribute. Hopefully that's Ownes-White. Somewhat less likely is that Bumbalough removes head from backside. Jihad is just there to eat some minutes in an unproductive sort of way.

We might need to start practicing free throws. We’re not going to win many games going 11-24 on FT’s. Aren’t too many 6th grade teams that would be happy with that!!

We also got out rebounded 30 to 34. This will probably be a reoccurring theme this season. The downside of a 4 guard line-up is you get out rebounded by teams playing 3 true front court players.
